Chapter 11: Coverage

"O-ow!" Letting out a whine Nina placed her hands near her antlers and rubbed her eyes. Her hair was wrapped in her antlers and was pulling on it tightly. Slowly getting up she looked in her mirror and began to untangle her antlers. 


"Hate these things" she mumbled softly and sighed finishing up. She massaged her head to make it better and walked out of the room.
"My head hurts.." she let out a mumble and began to walk downstairs seeing kids get breakfast. Nina had dark circles under her eyes due to lack of sleep and when she doesn't get sleep she turns..mad.

Walking downstairs some kids were throwing a ball and she sighed about to sit down but getting hit in the stomach. Only making her stumble and her eyes widened. The entire room had turned eyes to her. Clenching her jaw she took the ball in her hands and popped it without squeezing glaring at the kids who threw it.

She wasn't in the mood today and dropped it on the floor getting her food and sitting alone eating. Erik also walked into the room and everything got quiet. Ignoring them he sat beside Nina and places a hand on her shoulder.

"Is something wrong?" He asked her and she looked up at him. Sighing softly she just wrapped her arms around him and sighed.
"My antlers...They hurt and I'm so tired right now because I kept waking up because of them and I'm just...I can't stand them sometimes so I just...You know." Nodding softly he nodded and rubbed her back.

"I wish you grew up with me there so I could help you easier...But I know nothing but all I have to say now is...Don't be ashamed if your mutation. They are beautiful in my opinion" she smiled at him and rubbed her eyes.

"Yeah...But sometimes I just wish they would go away so I could sleep." She stated and went back to eating her food staring off to the side.
"You should go talk to Hank if so" hearing him say that she watched him leave, probably to go teach his class that he had gotten to teach.

Sighing softly she put and cleaned her things going to her room and getting something casual on and walked down to hanks laboratory. Knocking on his door she heard a faint come in and she walked in with a faint smile.

"Morning Hank" she did a wave and he lifted a brow and glanced Ved at her taking off a mask he was wearing.
"Hello Nina, how may I help you?" Taking a small breath she held her hands behind her and walked closer to his table.

"Well...Um, I want to well hide my antlers..? If that makes any sense to you.." nodding placed his hands on his lap.
"You want to hide them? Along with your powers?" He asked and tilted his head.

"What?? No no of course not. I just want to be able to hide some of my appearances. Sorry if I confused you" she stated and her eyes widened.
"Here, try this" grabbing something from a shelf that was behind him he opened a small black box and handed a watch to her.

"Always keep it on this setting no matter what."
"A watch? What is a watch going to do?" Just earning a strange look fr from. Him she stayed quiet.

"Okay....But thank you."
"Remember...You shouldn't hide your appearance based on what others may think. I learned that the hard way." Listening to him she nodded and walked out placing the watch on.

Feeling a small punch she furrowed her brows and pressed the press button and only felt her head slightly lighter but no real change. She placed her hands on her hips she bit her lip not sure what to think now but decided to walk over to the garage.

Looking for Piotr she thought about seeing him and it put a smile on her face. He was under a car and she looked down at him.
"Piotr, how's it going?" She asked feeling up to be herself now. Coming out from under the car he grunted and sat up with a smile but he did so as his eyes widened.

"It's...going good what happened?" Piotr asked pilate and stood up placing his tools down and wiping his face and hands from oil.
"What do you mean what happened?" He grabbed a small mirror and wiped it and turned to her.

Looking into it her eyes widened and she placed her hands on her mouth. Her blue eyes becoming watery. Her ears had changed looking normal and her antlers were gone.

"It worked!" She yelled out and smiled rubbing her ears and the top of her head.
"It worked it worked it worked!" She stated and jumped up at least once. She looked at Piotr and smiled hugging him.

"I can't believe it...I look...normal"
"You've always looked normal to me Nina" her smile went down by not into a frown.
"Well....I just wanted to feel normal myself...don't fret about it." Parting his chest she smiled, not able to pat his head and walked away.

Piotr's heart slightly crunching like a piece of paper.
