What About Us

chapter 12

*two weeks later*
I pick Kat up at her house and we drive to the hospital
I can't wait to find out what I'm having!
Kat and I have been saving up money to buy baby stuff and in two weeks we have about five hundred dollars and we put it all in a savings account
We pull up to the hospital and park I set in the car and stair at the doors breathing slowly
"Ray are you  OK ?" I look over and see Kat looking at me with worry in her eyes
"Um yah. Let's go inside?" I say hoping out of the car. We walk to the hospital doors arm in arm .
When we get to the doors and walk in the maturity ward and wait in the waiting room
"Oh crap " I say "Kat can you go grab the paperwork from the lady at the desk I forget it"
Kat gets up from the chair next to me and goes to get the paperwork

I look around the room and see that every woman has a man beside them all of them look very happy
I think about Carter. What if he doesn't even want our babies and when I tell him he breaks up with me
I feel tears that start to burn my eyes I quickly brush them away before Kat gets back
"OK here ya go" she hands Me a clip board
I start filling out the paperwork and Kat turns it in for me
And we wait
We talk about going to the store after this so we can make a baby registry
So we make a list of stuff we will need from Walmart, babies R us and some other stores.

In the middle of making a list of furniture we would need I hear
"Ray Curtis." I look up and see the lady that told Carter to leave when I first came to a hospital the day of the rubage sale
"Ray Curtis. Is there a Ray Curtis here "
I stand and she sees me
"Hello I have been assigned to be your nurse for as long as you are coming here " she holds out her hand "I remember you!" She say happily as I shake her hand "tell me if I am wrong but you came to the hospital about six months ago with a concussion and I almost had to kick out you little boyfriend" we reach the little room now an d we walk in.
"So is that boy the father and if so where is he?"she sets down in a chair as I get on the little bed with help from Kat
"He is the father and hi isn't here because one he doesn't know yet two he isn't in the States and three I told Kat she could come with me to the first appointment " I say gesturing towards Kat
"OK well let's begin" she says
"How far along are you "
"About seven weeks" I say putting a hand on my stomach I answer a ton of more questions when she says "well the doctor will be in in a second and if you want any advice : tell the boy as soon a he gets back " then she closed the door
I look at Kat and see that she is about to explode
"What is it " I say
"YOU WERE IN THE HOSPITAL WITH CARTER!" She yells
Well I couldn't avoid this much longer
" Yes I told you remember after the rubage sale "

"Oh right " she says

Then the doctor walks in
"Hello there Ray " he says pulling in the michine
He sets down in the chair picking up my chart
"OK well you are not going to find out the genders today but we will have a monthly check up. Because you are having twins there is a chance of a premature birth. Do you have any questions?" He looks up over the clipboard at me
"Um yes I have a few.." I say putting my hand on my stomach
"When will I find out the genders?"
"You are seven weeks right. Well in about six more weeks. And your next appointment is in six weeks " he smiles at me
"OK  and when am I due " I say shyly
"You conceived in mid May so in about February but you may still be early." He smiles "anything else?"
"Yes. Can we do the use the michine now "
He laughs"eager aren't we. Yes please lay down and pull up your shirt" he looks at Kat "Are you wanting pictures?"
"Yes please. Can I get about five copies of each picture?"
"No problem?"
He puts some jell on my stomach and moves the wand around
"OK these two spots are your babies. They seem to be in perfect health just a little small but that is normal for twins"
He presses a button on the michine
"I'll be right back with the pictures"
He hands me a napkin to clean the jell off of my stomach

Kat starts talking to my stomach not even making sense with her baby talk

The doctor walks back in the room with a envelope he hands it to me and tells up we can leave

Once in the car I tell kat that we need to go to the store. So we drive to babys'R'us and I go in and buy two photo albums both are a baby yellow with red stripes. I show Kat and she and I start to scrapbook once we get home

Carter called my phone once we got home.

"Hi babe " Carter says
"Hi honey do you know when your flight leaves yet" I say
"Yah I board in three days I can't wait to see you. Where do you want to meet up?" He says happily
"How about that new burger place. I met up with Kat there a few weeks ago and they have awesome milkshakes "
"OK well I have to go now babe. I love you see you in three days"
"Bye"I say
"Bye" he whispered

Kat and go and eat a ton of food and we sun in my back yard for a while
I started to print out the pictures I take of my bump and I write the week number on them and I put one in each album book this week I got a pic of Kat kissing my bump as I am dieing of laughter

My aunt is a little mad at me because I told her that I am keeping the babies

I told her that I grew up not knowing who my parents are and I am not doing that to my kids

I am so overwhelmed with the pregnancy and my aunt an the fact that I am gaining so much weight and I feel fat am not very beautiful but ill just wait until Carter gets home every thing will be better once he I here I know it
