Remembering Family

Chapter 4

"Natalie." I said as she appeared at the front door of Havenfield. She entered without asking permission, and I sighed. 

"Tell me what I can do to help get our family back." She demanded. "Also, call me Amy." 

"The best thing you could do to help is to stay here, Amy." I said once again. 

"I want to help!" 

"I know, Amy! I've almost died on all the missions like these and I'm not putting you in danger! The only reason I live is because of Elwin, and using our elixirs on you might not be the best idea!" 

"You've almost died?" She said, choking up. 

"Like ten times." An accented voice said, Fitz appearing in the doorway. 

"I still want to go." She stated. 

"How'd you even get here?" I muttered.

"Alden took me."

"Of course he did." Fitz said, groaning. 

"Amy it's not going to be safe." I continued.

"I know. Wouldn't more people be helpful if we're invading a hideout?" She said.

"No, no it wouldn't be helpful it would be more dangerous. More people to worry about getting out, more people to keep track of, more people to protect. Tam said he'd be ready in another two weeks. Crei confirmed that. All the adults are already complaining about Sophie going." Fitz said.

"I put them in danger, now I need to get them out of danger." I said stubbornly. Plus, I wasn't letting my friends go without me.  "I just hope the Shade doesn't get too close to me because of enhancing. Hey I should hold hands with Tam the whole time so his powers are enhanced!" I said. "And you Fitz. Or maybe Linh." I said. 

"Can't I learn to fight?" Amy whined. 

"Not against these guys, Amy. I'm going to bet Ruy is there, and Alvar, and maybe Fintan. It's too dangerous. Ruy is a psionipath. He's very dangerous and strong. Alvar he's a vanisher like Biana. Fintan.....he's a pyrokinetic. Control's fire."

"Can't I get some type of protection and go?" 

"No."

"If that was possible, all of us would have it."

"I want to help." She repeated. 

"No." 

What if she sneaks there with us? What will we do then?  Fitz transmitted.

Then one of us leaps her back and then comes back.  I replied.

If that's not possible? 

Then she stays in the middle of us at all times, and Linh stays by her side no matter what. 

What about you at her side? 

I've got to support Tam and his powers. 

Right. You, Linh and Tam could all stay by her. You could enhance both of their powers directly.

That's a possibility. I guess we can do that if she sneaks there. 

"Why can't I help?"

"We told you, it's dangerous." 

"I don't get it! If it's dangerous why aren't adults going!" 

"Adults aren't going because this mission was meant for me and my group. We've handled a lot of things together. We can handle this one. I don't want you in danger, Amy. We don't have time to train you, and there is no protection we can offer you from their abilities."
