Maximum Ride: A New Life

Chapter 20

Max pov

   I sighed, slowly but surely getting irritated. "Hurry up Maya we have to be on the road in three hours and I still need to bath as well as get snacks."

There was some mumbling before the door opened and a nicely dressed Maya comes out. She glared at me before pushing past me. I sighed- I am sighing a lot on this trip- and walked in the bathroom, locking the door behind me.

   I turned the water on its coldest setting. I was going to get in the bath when scraping sounded at the door.

I opened it, already knowing who it is amd watched as Anita struts into the bathroom and hops in the tub. She spat a tube of cream on the floor.

   "Did you know that you forgot this?.

"No actually." I picked up the cream and sat it on the edge of the tub before giving her head a rub down. "What would I have done without you?"

"Nothing, absolutely nothing." She said smartly as I slid in next to her. I sighed as I hot water glided on my skin. I sat there for a bit before untucking my wings.

  As I stared at them I remembered one of the many 'incedents' in my life.

I struggled against the hand of the white jackets as they forced me into an all white room, slaming the door closed once they was able to get me inside.

I sat there and stared at the one way glass with all the hatred I could muster up.

    After a few minutes of silence I heard wjay sounds like growling. Slowly standing, I glared at the mirror one last time before looking towards the back of the all white room.

   The wall slowly lifted up. Two inches of the ground I large, claws fully shown paws slashed at me. It was like I was frizen in time as I watched watever it is try to get out.

After a full minute of it trying to escape the paw was puled nack into thr darkness of the inside wall to let the wall give it more room to free itself.

   Once the wall was fully up it slowly crawled out of the darkness.

I was still frozen when it pounced.

"Max!"

   I jumped nearly ten feet in the air, splashing water on the floor. My breaths was shallow and hands clamly.

Then I noticed a rough material rubbing across my face. I looked over to see Anita licking me.

    I put a hand on her head and pushed. "Anita, Anita stop im fine."

   "Fine, fine! Max you have tears down your face." I looked at her in shock before  swiping at my eyes and indeed there was a wetness on my cheeks.

  Anita sighed before grabing her rag and ploping it on my lap. I grabed it, smiling slightly, before lathering it up and washing her.

   Ten minutes later both of us was walking out the bathroom, Anita looking like a sponge and my hair a tangled mess.

"Finally. You take forever." Exclamed Nuge at she rushed in the bathroom; slaming the door behind her.

    I went to my bag and found me ans Aniyas specialized brushs. It was at this moment i realised that we was the only ones in the hotel room besides Maya.

"Do you know were everyone went? We have to leave in two hours." I asked Anita as I brushed her fur back.

   "I heard them say that they was going to get something to eat in the hotel cafe. Think we should go?"

  "You can go if you want but I would like to stuby up on the next target."
She sighed.

   "You at least have to come down to get some breakfast." She looked at me with the look. The look that says I have to say in this.

  I rolled my eyes and gave her a small smile before grabing her new collor and leash. Her ears pirked up at the sound. "I get to were my new collor?! Wait, why and I wereing my new collor?"

  "Because you are a larger than normal for a large dog and some people would not be comfortable with you not on a leash." I told her as I put it on her.

  I grabed my car and the room keys, learning my lesson of leaving them in the open, and walked out the room. Locking it.

   As we walked down the halway, like I said, people was pulling there kids closer to them. When we was almost at the cafe area a random women came up to me and asked me if I need a mussle for here.

  Lets just say Anita did not like that.

    Once we got there I noticed a feeling of being watched from every corner of the room. Especially Around the flock, who was laughing at something gazzy did. I guess Maya forgave Fang, she sitting practically on top of him. 

  Suddenly Anita stood up to her full high, makimg some people stop and wonder how a dog got that big, and looked towards the front doors

   I followed her line of sight and saw two people, a man and a women, dressed in black and white whispering to each other. I looked back at Anita to see her baring her teeth at them.

  I nealed down to pet under her snout and whispered with a smile "Dont be know, keep them on your radar and tell me when they get close." I stood up and headed to the food.

    I staked mt plate with almost everything and Anitas plate with meet and eggs. And walked to the flock.

  I sat next to Angel and put a plate on the floor for Anita before getting me a glass of orange juice and her a bowl of water. Plastic bowl.

I got a lot of nasty looks once i sat back down. Lookimg out the corner of my eye the mystery figures was still standing in the same spot. I turned and tuned in on to the conversation.

"...... And he would not stop looking at me. It creeped my out." Said Nuge, shaking her hands.

  "Was it also the same guy who James knocked out? If so that he deserved it." Nuge nodded and scoped a spoon full of eggs in her mouth. She spared me a quick glance just like everyone else and continued the conversation.

  Then I heard a small growl. Looking down, i saw Anita glaring at the people in black; I soon turned to see that they was closer than before.

Why closer.

   I tap my hand lightly on the table, geting the others attention. "Guys, we have to go." I whispered, keeping the people in black in my side view.

   Moans of displeasure was heard before Maya spoke up. "Max, just stop being so uptight and at least let us enjoy this moment." She said somewhat hostility.

I glared at her before jerking my head back. A movement that i have always done when my team was in danger.

They sobered up quickly.

"We need to go, get your things from the room and meet at the car. You all are to leave the table by twos. Stay with you partner." I said, leaving no room to argue, and leaned back in my seat, letting them knkw that can put the plan to action.

  Angel and Nuge are the first ones to go, calmly but quickly leaving the cafe. After ten minutes I taped my finger on the table, Gazzy and Iggy left the table.

  This keep on untill it was just me and Anita. "Well" I sighed. "I guess it is our turn." I stood and gathered my trash.
Only to be forced in my seat by inhumanly strong hands. The women and Man slid into the seats in front of me and flashed a bage.

   The color draned from my face a the sound of growling grew louder.

   "Maximum Ride. We are from the W.I.C.K.E.D corp. and we are here to collect, and restart operation Phoenix."
