Maximum Ride: A New Life

chapter 10

Max pov

    I woke up in a cold sweat.

     I felt my body to make sure I had all my limbs. I sighed.

     "Max?"

     I looked to see Anita staring at me with worried eyes. She snuggled into the crok of my neck.  "Are you ok?"

    I patted her head. "Yeah just another dream, nothing to worry about."

     She sat up.  "Well I will tell you something you need to be worried about."

      "Can you tell me in the afternoon. We have a lot ot do today and it is 3 something in the morning." I said tubbing my eyes to stay awake.

     "Well I would like to get some sleep but Angel keaps trying to get in the car. She stool the car keys at least 3 times." She handed me the car keys. I sighed, can she get the hint that my life is non of her business. "Do you know what she was looking for?"

     She looked at Angels and Nuge sleeping forms then turned to me. "She saw the book Max."

     That woke my up. "What?" I said.

      "I do not think she had enough time to read the cover but I know she is trying to get it. I put it back in the suit case and licked it shut." 

    "Thanks" I tolded her, thankfull the she had saliva that can glue anything shut untill she licks it agen. "How long do you think she have been up a this?" I asked, getting up and heading downstairs to the kitchen.

     "I think ever since the day you went to the mall." That was 1 day ago. I walked to the window and stared at the night sky. "She cant find out Anita, if she dose she is going to tell the flock and I do not need nor want them to know about my past."

      "I told you to leave it home." She sat on the sofa and I sat next to her.

     "You knoe that I cannot do that. I made a promise to keap it safe." I put my heas on her sholder, telling her to lay down. She did just so and I put my head on her belly. 

     "What are you going to do if she finds out, are you going to kill her?"

     "No im not going to kill her, im going to at least try to talk to her to keap it to herself first."

    She sighed "To bad. She will be better off dead."

     "Come on." I said, pushing her off the sofa. "Lets go back to bed." I turned to the stairs to see blond hair running around the corner.

I walked down stairs to find everone sitting around the table. The boys talking about the new game thay are going to get, but the firls stoped talking when I walked in the room, ther eyes following me as I fixed my plate and took a set in the living room with Mrs. Martinez watching the news.

     Breaking new today as the body of Katherine King was found near the border line.

    At that moment I froze. Katherine King was one of the missing girls.

      Her body was mauled by what looks like and overgrown wolf. The police are now working double time to find the other kidnaped kids and brought ng them home.

       "Max?" Ella sat next to me and rubed my back while Anita came on my other side and said so softly that only I can hear it.
