Sasha's POV

As I enter the house, there was an abundance of people whom I didn't know. For all I know, they are all rich. I see many designer dresses and suit, with whiskey or champagne in hand, while women compare each other's diamonds and men talking about how much they have earned from the recent horse race and whatnot. I had to squeeze through as I search for a face I recognize but surprisingly all these people acknowledged and greeted me.

They were congratulating me while saying that I'm going to make my grandfather extremely proud. I had no idea what they were talking about but as my mother told me many times, how confused or even if I disagree I still need to politely smile and move away, and I did that.

Eventually, I found one of my cousins, she was trying her level best to flirt with the bartender for a drink and I think maybe his number also. He was really cute but I would never be allowed to date him. Status is really an important element in any relationships in this family. I guess being rich has its pride? I don't know. For all, I know they are just fill with air head and snobs, but within them, there are rare ones. My best friends are the few gems that I was blessed with them. I should go search for them instead, it's been almost forever I seen them (more like 3 days but you get my point).

"Sashaaaaaa! Chechiiiiiii! It's about time you came!" Avalina screeched. I pretty sure she's a little tipsy. She tripped and face planted directly into my cleavage.

"Ava? I know you love my boobs a lot but please talk to me too, I'm getting a little offended." I said while holding her up steady and her giving a little chuckle.

"Chechiiii you know you're the life of the party right? Now could you tell this handsome barboy to give me another round of gin tonic please?" I turn to the bartender and just told him to give her the virgin tonic with a smile. He handed me a drink with a folded napkin and a wink. My right brow perked up, giving him a confused look and he just pointed at the napkin. I turned away from the bar and walked towards Avalina, I opened the napkin and gasp. That bartender, named Dave, gave me his digits. As flattering it is, I wasn't interested, so I handed the drink with the napkin to my cousin. She started to squeal like a pig, jumping with her 6-inch stilettoes. She assumed the bartender gave the number to her, I didn't want burst her happy bubble or tell her the truth, it would be like revisiting my brothers' 18th birthday and it didn't end well.

I continued my search for my Mother, but I was always stopped and acknowledged by the crowd that had always ignored me. I never really enjoy such company, as I usually kept to myself and those rich brats would just treat me as I'm invisible. To the contrary, they spoke to me as we have been friends for more than my entire existence. I bit my tongue to control my need to retort with sarcasm to their fake acknowledgement.

Finally my search was over, my Mother was standing very elegantly with my Father's hand draped around her waist as they were talking to another couple whose back were to me. I had always admired parents of their subtle way of showing affection to each other. The way Father was holding Mother while her hands lightly on Father's chest and both sneaking glances at each other as they converse with others. Those small things got me wishing to have something like that, such simple display of love.
