(LeRoy's POV)
I can't seem to grasp what has happened within this weekend. Everything seemed as though someone hit the fast forward button. I can't remember the last time I slept without waking up, gasping for air, covered in sweat. I sat on my brown leather couch in my room, preparing my best friend's funeral.
Dylan has been in my life as long as I can remember. We met in Kindergarten, he was getting bullied my some of the bigger boys. Dylan was rather tiny then, so it was easy being picked on. I was watching how the big boys were pushing him around. My elder brother, Landen Salvador Naslen who is 8 years older than me, always told me not to get involved unless there was more than pushing going on.
We were allowed to play at the playground for 2 hours before nap time. I was immediately climbing the jungle gym, so I could sit at the top and observe the others. I could see Dylan climbing also, challenging me to the top. I always love a good challenge and started climbing, using my tiny arm muscles to pull myself up while my legs pushing. Suddenly, I heard a scream and as I turned back, I saw Dylan on the ground and the bigger boys surrounding him smirking.
One of the boys gave a hard kick to Dylan's stomach that was the last straw, I jumped down and ran straight to that boy, giving him a punch that my elder brother taught me. Immediately the other boys started to pounce and punch me, seeing me getting hit brought some bravery in Dylan, because he started to swing punches at the boys and helping me. It was an unfair fight but we were giving more punches than receiving them. Our teachers eventually ran out and pulled us away from those boys. Both of our parents were called, giving us both suspension letters for a week. Ever since that day, we were inseparable.
A knock on the door got me out from reminiscing about him. "Hey LeRoy. Ready to go?" Nate asked as he walked slowly towards me. He's wearing an identical black suit with black shirt.
"Where's Kia?" I asked as I stood up to meet him half way in my room, without answering his question. "I'm here Savio. Come on, let's go." Sasha said as she came and stood in front of me, buttoning my top two buttons. Once she was done, she looked up to me and gave me a sad smile. I knew then she got me whipped. I didn't deserve her kindness. I didn't deserve her after what I have done to her. With a peck on her forehead, I held on to her hand and she led me out of my room with Nate and Lekaa behind us.
Four of us sat in the second row with some of our other close friends, behind Dylan's family. My parents, Landan, Lorenzo and Lionel sat behind us with Sasha's parents and brothers. Levin and Leon sat in front of us with Dylan's sisters, who have gotten really close recently.
I wondered if Dylan would approve. He was extremely protective over his twin sisters, he would scare any guy that approached either of the girls. I would usually try to intervene but I knew how he felt as I have a little sister too.
Sasha leaned on my shoulder, instinctively I caressed her cheek with my free hand. I felt her cheeks wet, she was crying to the eulogy that his elder brother was saying. I was next to say some kind words about him. I got up when the priest called me forward. Sasha squeezed my arm with encouragement. I walked up to his coffin, looking at him, he looked so peaceful but he was not supposed to be in there. The truth almost broke my composure. Immediately, Sasha was beside me, holding on to me by my waist. I held on to her tight, taking in energy from her.
