Mustang had called us into his office shortly after we had been made official State Alchemists. When we entered, he was sitting at his desk. We saluted and he looked up.
"Oh, Multiblood and Polar. You finally came," he muttered with no enthusiasm. "I have an assignment for you and the other Alchemists."
"Remember the other day with Envy's attack?" Mustang asks. I recall the attack, and look down at my wounded fingers. "Yes, Sir," I reply. "Well, he gave us information that could potentially help us with finding the creator of the homunculi. You follow?"
"Yes, Sir,"
"The assignment that I'm giving you goes like this. We're going to send out three quarters of our State Alchemists and soldiers. The rest will stay here at Central Command. You, Mason and some other Alchemists will be deployed to kill all seven homunculi and their creator."
"So what you're saying is that Cassandra and I will be launched on a suicide mission?" Mason asks.
"Technically, yes," Mustang replies. Mason looks at me as if he were asking for my input.
"What are the chances that we'll survive?" I ask.
"Considering how many soldiers died last time, I would say a twenty percent chance," Mustang replies. I consider the chances, and stand up straighter. "Then we'll participate," I say confidently.
We left Mustang's office shortly after I had accepted the mission. "Are you crazy?!" Mason asks. "Twenty percent chance of survival! In case you haven't noticed, that's barely a good chance that we'll survive!" I stop walking, and turn towards my brother.
"I was thinking logically. You weren't at the attack, but Envy took the form of Mom. He can only shift to the form of a person if they watch their actions. If we take this mission, then there's a chance that we'll find Mom," I say.
"You mean a random person who happens to have the ability to shape shift stalked Mom, then took the form of her, and probably is behind Mom's disappearance?"
"Pretty much,"
"Then I want to kill him," Mason growls through grit teeth.
After our discussion, Mason decided that we should go to our room. I agreed, and we went to our room. Having nothing to do, we started to mess around. We drew transmutation circles on the ground, and made statues that mocked the other twin. In the middle of a small statue that I was making of Mason, we heard a thumping noise at the door. I stand up, and walk to the door. Turning the doorknob, I expect Mustang or Ed, but the two figures outside the door proves otherwise.
"Naomi?" Mason asks from behind me. Our teacher was standing in the doorframe with her hands at her sides. Next to her was another familiar face. "I found your teacher," Assassin says. I feel a grin spread across my face at the sight of the two. "Come in," I say, stepping away from the two.
"How has training been?" Naomi asks.
"Good. We actually qualified as State Alchemists," I reply, pulling my watch out from my pocket. Mason does the same, and Naomi's face gains a proud look to it. "That's amazing. The Colonel also gave my title as State Alchemist back," she says and flashes an older pocket watch at us. "So, are you going on that mission?" I ask. She quickly looks up from her watch. "Y-yeah. Don't tell me you're going on it, too," she says. I nod, and she falls back in her chair. "Are you advanced enough?" I look at Mason, and he shrugs.
"Yeah, I would imagine we are," I reply.
"Very well, then. I'll be seeing you," Naomi says as she walks out of the room. We wave at her, and she turns around. "By the way, what are your names. Like, State Alchemist names?"
Mason says his first. "Polar Alchemist,"
"Multiblood Alchemist." Naomi looks at me. "Multiblood Alchemist. Hm, I like that. Has a nice touch to it, don't you think? Anyway, I'm going to leave you alone. The tailors will be here to give you an uniform. See you."
As Naomi said, the tailors finally arrive. They practically barge into the room, and I had to dodge them in order to avoid being ran over by a cart with fabric and materials to make an uniform.
"Mason, I'll take you in the bathroom," a large man says. Mason follows him into the room, and they shut the door. "Okay, let's get started with you," a woman says, and yanks my shirt off, exposing my undergarments. "Hey! Can't you just take measurements with my shirt on?" I screech.
"Nope. That could cause inaccurate measurements," the woman says, and starts to take measurements. I slump over in defeat, and the lady forces me upright again. I groan and stand as the lady bustles around me, scribbling numbers and words onto a clipboard. "Alright, we're going to see your uniform," the woman says.
After four hours, I stand in the middle of the room in my new uniform. Mason also emerges from the bathroom in his uniform. "You look sharp," he says. I laugh, and return the compliment. After we finished getting prepared to present ourselves to Mustang, we set out to meet up with the other Alchemists that would go on the mission with us.
"Listen up!" Mustang roars from a stack of bricks that Envy knocked down. Mason looks at me, and I give him a small lopsided smile. Through the sea of people, I could make out Ed, Al, Naomi, and Hawkeye. The rest were regular soldiers and Alchemists.
"The mission is to find and destroy all homunculi, and their creator. We sacrifice everything, even if it means your own life!" Mustang booms. "Yes, Sir!" I yell and salute with the crowd. We then left the room to start the hunt.
With fire coursing through my veins, I rush out of the room with the other military personnel.
