Crystaline's POV:
~PRESENT DAY~I woke up to my iPhone's alarm clock, chiming away as the sun started rising. I tried to ignore it, but then I remembered. The math test is today. "Wooooooohoo," I silently screamed. "Morning world!" I got out of bed and went for a shower, making sure that I cleaned my wings as well. When I hopped out, I put on my undergarments, making sure they didn't stop my wings from flying. Check. I had a half an hour study before getting breakfast. I made myself crumpets with honey, only because today was a testing day. "Make sure to bring home at least a seventy five percent result," mum hollered as I exited the house. "Love you, too, mum," I called back. Positive x positive equals positive, so let's have a happy morning and happy lunch.
I skipped around the corner, making my way to the BMX park. As soon as I got there, I spread my wings and shot up, like a bullet. I closed my eyes as I defeated gravity, itself. I swirled, and hooped my way among the clouds, feeling my my flow like streamers. I giggle as I went higher and higher, until I pulled my wings in, letting me drop a little. I still managed to stay above the clouds and out of sight. My wings spread miles wide as I glided over everything I knew. I'm lucky to have wings.
~TEN MINUTES LATER~
I had finally reached Mayson Day Park, an old sporting field that was abandoned after the soccer training was moved to another, better park. I flew up high, just under the wind currents, and I dropped. Like a falling angel I fell, feeling the air rush past me, finally giving in to gravity. Seconds before hitting the ground I swooped up, acing a perfect entrance. I've done it once again. I absorb my wings, allowing me to take on the true form of a human being. Me without wings. I walk over to the street, coming closer and closer to Indling Grammar School. All you need to do is a, survive, b, complete the test with a good mark, and c, stay isolated. I came to the front gate, and was greeted by my math teacher. "Good morning, Mrs Alfinner," I greet. "Morning, Crystaline," she replies in her sweet voice, even though she is always grumpy with everyone else. "Studied? It's a hard one, this one." "I'm sure that I'll do fine, Mrs Alfinner," I replied. "Good," she said as I walked into the school gates. I will do better than everyone else. That, I am sure of.
~IN MATH~
"Yes," I whispered to myself. Maths was always first on a Monday, so we had a test first. I got 98.3606577 percent on my math test. 60 out of 61 correct. Mum will be proud. I bet the whole class, again. And I got a hand shake from the principal for getting amazing grades ever since I started coming here. I was actually relieved when the recess bell rang. Yummy food. Today I had packed banana bread, peckish crackers, celery and dip for recess. "Yum," I said to myself. "Savory and delicious." I started eating the banana bread, bit by bit, whilst reading a book I enjoy, taking in each sentence as they form paragraphs, that form pages, that form chapters, that form a story.
As I sit in my kind of hidden corner of the library lobby, I hear the door open, and three giggling girls walk in. Oh no. I curl up, making sure I'm out of sight, but it doesn't work. "Oh. There she is," cries Annabella. "That smart-ass girl that won't do our homework for us." The other two girls, Piper and Tommaline, smile mischievously. "Why, oh why, Crystaline, won't you help us get out of this hell hold?" I had been asked by them to do their home work for them for ages now. "Okay. Let's make a deal," Tommaline suggested. "You do our home work for us," Piper continued. "And we won't start the rumor that you lost your virginity to Jeffrey... Henson," Annabella whispered. I gasped. "A-alright," I whimpered. "I'll do it." They handed me their maths, English and history homework. "Just remember... we have you hanging by a thread," Annabella sneered. As soon as they left, I threw their homework in the trash. Everybody knows I would never do that. I haven't even had my first kiss. I left the library, picking up their homework on the way, and headed for class.~AFTER SCHOOL~
I walked towards the park, after saying goodbye to Mrs Coe, who is by far, the kindest human on earth. When I got to the park, I held onto my backpack and spread my wings, ready to leave to my home, where all is safe and calm. But just before taking off, I hear a sound, like a branch snapping. I turn around, immediately, although nothing is insight.
Jake's POV:
~A COUPLE MINUTES EARLIER~
"Man, please, we all know that I can get any and every girl, in my hands," I argue. Although, Xander won't back down. "I could get them quicker," he said. I could tell by other people's faces they were taking sides. "I bet that neither of you could get Crystaline," someone, sounds like a girl, said. Annabella stepped forward. "Let's make a bet. Whoever gets Crystaline, has to give the other person a hundred dollars." Everyone gasps or 'oohs'. "If neither get her by the end of term, then you both lose your right to say 'I can get any girl'. Got it?" "Got it," Xander and I said in unison. "And whoever tells Crystaline will become a sore loser like her. Understood?" Everybody agreed with her just as the bell went.
Since it was the end of the day, Xander went to go home, but I was gonna follow Crystaline and see what type of guys Crystaline is into. No, that isn't stalking... okay, maybe a little, but it's different. Anyways, I knew that she was picked up at the park, so I followed her out of the school, and saw she went into the park rather than wait outside. I stayed behind a tree, and watched her. She slowly took off her backpack and something started coming out of her skin at the back. Wings?! I thought I was hallucinating but it was still like that. She grabbed her backpack and prepared to fly off, I started stepping closer but I stepped on a branch. I looked around the corner and she mustn't see me, because she looked confused. Her wings went away, and she started coming closer. "Is someone there," she asked. "Hmm... I must be hearing things." She turned around, with her wings growing out again and shot up into the sky. What the hell was I smoking last night?
