Still written in James's perspective
I woke up and my mind flashed with the images of yesterday. I was meeting him In 2 hours so I
needed to get ready. I got ready and went down for breakfast. " James where have you been and
where are you going," my mother asks looking at my clothes that I wear when I'm ridding my
horse. " I just went riding yesterday and I am going again today. It helps me clear my head with
everything that's going on," I lie. They my mother seems to believe it so no more questions are
asked.
I eat my breakfast and then go and saddle my horse up. I began riding and soon made it to the
diner. I walked in this time knowing what I was facing. I saw him siting at a table by himself
inspecting a candle that sat in the middle of the table. I walk over. He looks up at the sound of
approaching feet. " Hello James. Thank you for coming again," he says kindly.
" I would never miss a chance to meet my long lost uncle," I reply. He smiles. I sit down and we
begin talking. " You need to come to town and see my farther he will want to see you," I say. He
sighs. " your father was 13 when I left he probably doesn't remember me," he says sadly. I look
concern. " what happened?" I ask feeling sorry for him. He looks down at the table and begins his
story. " It started when I was 14 I got myself into the wrong crowd and began fighting a lot. Your
farther was only 11 then and I cared for him dearly. I would come home late and have bruises all
over my body and blood streaming down my face. My parents became annoyed at me as this
continued for two years. By the time I was 16 my parents had had enough and decided the only
thing to do was kick me out. Your father was 13 by then and I didn't want to leave him. He meant
everything to me but I still had to leave. I left town and travel to a nearby one. A family in the town
took me in a raised me until I was 18 and I bought my own house. Money was hard to get and I
hardly had enough to get a house but I managed. I never wanted to come back thinking my family
didn't love me but there wasn't a day that didn't go by that I didn't miss your farther. Then when I
heard that there was going to be a war I had to do something. So I found you because I was to
scared to see your farther again," he finishes the story and looks at me. I try to wrap my thighs
around all of this but it is hard. " I'm sorry for what you had to go through," I say. Just then there is
a loud bang and multiply guards from town come in. The look around and their eyes land on me.
They run over and point swords at me and Marcus. I liked confused. " what is going on," I say
angrily. Marcus hilt walks in. " James wright you are officially under arrest for secretly meeting up
with the enemy," he says. I feel sick. This is my uncle they are talking about.
" he isn't the enemy he is my uncle," I say. Mr hilt just shakes his head. " he is the enemy and uncle
or not it is illegal to be seen with them," Mr hilt informs me. The guards drag me to my feet and
bind my hands with rope. I look over at Marcus who has his head down. " You can't do this. I
haven't said anything to him except about my family," I say to Mr hilt. He smiles and shakes his
head. " oh but I can you see someone has been pacing on information about our army and look
who we happen to find with one of them. From now on you will not talk understood?" He says. I
nod and look down. I am dragged outside with two guards next to me and Marcus next to them
with two other guards next to him. They fetch my horse and I am put on one with a guard seated
behind me. The journey home is the worst. All I can do is think about my family and Elizabeth.
What will they think. The sun is beginning to set by the time we reach the town painting it with
magnificent pinks. Not many people are on the street but those that are stare. We are about to
reach the hall when my parents come running over. " James what has happened. Mr hilt what is
going on," my mum says flustered. My dad stands there staring but not at me at Marcus, his
brother. " Marcus?" He says clearly about to cry. " Brother," Marcus says a huge grin spreading
across his face. My dad starts to cry. " While this is all very touching I really need to get these two
to jail as your brother here is part of the enemy and your son here has been secretly seeing him,"
Mr hilt says and begins to ride off. My mother looks furious. " You can not do this he is my son
and has done nothing wrong," she yells. " We will see about that," Mr hilt replies and we are off
again. The hall is a grand place that is if you are not underneath it in a jail cell that is dirty. I look
around at the cell. I have not talked to Marcus yet and don't want to. For all I know he could be the
enemy. I sigh and sit on the tiny bed I get. I close my eyes and fall into a fitful sleep.
