The Morning after

"Ugh, I think my head is going to explode," Camila said waking up to the bright rays of sunlight. "Lo? Hey Lolo?" She asked, turning around only to be met with an empty bedside. Looking around Camila realized Lauren was nowhere to be found.

Getting up out of the bed, Camila saw that she was now in her pyjamas instead of her outfit from the party. 'Lauren must've changed my clothes' she thought as she made her way downstairs. As she walked down the stairs, she immediately smelt pancakes before her other senses registered their presence. The homey smell of frying butter reached her nostrils and assaulted her brain with mouthwatering images of fluffy, warm goodness.

Camila walked into the kitchen to see Lauren frying pancakes and humming a familiar tune, unaware of the younger girl's presence. Camila smiled to herself watching how cute Lauren looked in the morning. Sneaking up behind her, Camila snagged a soft piece of heaven off the platter stacked deep with the round, tan things. She grabbed a plate and retreated with her prize towards the syrup. After pouring the still steaming treat with liquid sugar, she gingerly cut off a bite and lifted it towards her mouth. Pure bliss.

The first flavour to unfold on her tongue was the sweetness of the syrup, quickly followed by the delicate, buttery flavour of the pancake itself. The coolness of the syrup and heat of the pancake complimented one another perfectly and only served to bring out the subtle flavour of the pancake itself. She scooped up another bite to replace the one which was quickly dissolving in her mouth, and then another. Before she knew it, all that remained on her plate was dribbles of syrup.

"Damn," Lauren said out of shock, standing still with her plate in her hands. "I knew you could put away food, but... Damn," She said walking sitting down across from her, handing her a cup of water and aspirin for her hangover.

"I'm just hungry, is all" Camila blushed, putting her now empty plate in the dishwasher. "I also wanna thank you for last night," Camila said sitting down next to her, swallowing the pill, drinking it down with water as she placed a hand on Lauren's knee.

"What do you mean?" Lauren questioned, noticeably tensing up by the little gesture.

"Well, seeing as I'm not in my clothes from the party I take it, you changed me"

"Oh yea, it was nothing," she said, quickly getting up moving away from Camila. "You would have done the same," she told her, putting away her empty plate as well as the dishes.

"Yea, anything for you, lo" Camila smiled turning around to look at her. Lauren intense green eyes studied her because she didn't know how to interpret that. One way of how she was thinking is, Camila would also help her in the same situation because they're sisters. But another way was, meaning she would do anything for her because she likes her.

"Mhm," she nodded, retrieving into the living room, turning on the flat screen.

"So, tell me on a scale of one to ten, how wasted was I?" Camila asked, plopping down on the couch next to her, as Lauren flipped through the channels.

"I don't know.." she said deciding to just settle on watching SpongeBob.

"Well, I know I probably said or did something stupid, right?" She chuckled, nudging her arm.

The events from last night of what Camila told Lauren in her room, was now replaying in her head. Lauren looked to Camila, searching her eyes. Lauren opened and closed her mouth, debating in her head whether or not if she should tell Camila what she said last night or keep it to herself. She, of course, went with the latter, because she's still confused herself.

"Well, did I?" Camila asked.

"..No you didn't"

"Really? I thought I would've said something crazy" she said out loud. "Because you know, when you have alcohol in your system, the deepest darkest secrets that you try so hard to keep locked up eventually comes out into the light"

"You don't say," Lauren says, resting her elbow on the back of the couch, as she rests her head on her hand looking at Camila. "So tell me, what deep dark secrets are you hiding?" Lauren questioned wanting to take a safer route to get the truth out of the Cuban girl beside her, hoping it's not what Camila said last night.

"...My little secret, will be My little secret" Camila answered, hesitated for a moment.

"But what if that secret is not a secret anymore?"

"What are you getting at?" Camila asked now confused. "Is there something you're not telling me?"

Before Lauren could answer her question the doorbell ranged.

"I'll get it," Camila said getting up off the couch, wrapping the blanket from the couch around herself, she went to the door.

"Oh hi Camila, is Lauren here?" Upon hearing Normani's voice, Lauren quickly jumped to her feet.

"Oh no, you just missed her" Camila lied, leaning against the door. "Maybe, next time" trying to close the door, Camila was stopped by Lauren.

"Hey, mani" Lauren brightly smiled, pulling the door back open.

"Oh, I thought you were gone," Normani said turning back around.

"Why would you think that?" Lauren questioned confused. Not answering her question both Normani and Lauren looked to Camila, who had an irritated expression on her face.

"Oh, c'mon it was a joke," she said with an eye roll. "Don't be so sensitive"

"...Anyway, How's it going?" Lauren asked looking back at Normani.

"It's going great" Normani laughed a bit.

"Good" Lauren grinned, looking at her with dumbstruck eyes.

"Good" Normani beamed, looking at her with loving eyes.

"Yea ok, why are you here exactly?" Camila rudely asked interrupting their moment, standing by Lauren's side staring at her.

"I came by to see if Lauren and you got home safely last night" she explained.

"Aww, how sweet of you" Lauren gushed.

"Why yes, it is" Camila sarcastically said. "So, very thoughtful of you" she stated.

"..um yea, but so I also came by to ask if you would like to go to dinner with me tomorrow night?" Normani asked.

"Yes!"

"She can't!" Camila says at the same time.

"Uh..?" Normani said looking between the two sisters.

"Why can't I?"

"Because.. because you got that thing with um.. that girl," Camila said trying to lie.

"What thing?" Lauren asked, obviously confused just like mani. "And with what girl?"

"Your annual spring softball game with Vero"

"Camz, Vero moved back to Miami six months ago" Lauren laughed, messing up Camila's hair. "And you know I don't do softball anymore"

"Right," she said, mentally slapping herself.

"So you're free?" Normani asked.

"Free" Lauren confirmed.

"I'll pick you up at 7" stepping closer Normani kissed her on the cheek, before leaving a goofy grinning Lauren behind. "Oh, bye Camila" she waved.

"Yea yea," she says closing the door.

"Oh man, is Normani the hottest or is she the hottest?" Lauren said with blushing cheeks falling on the couch.

"Nah, compared to this one girl I know. Normani is just beautiful, while my girl's a goddess" Camila said looking at Lauren who was too busy smiling and giggling into a pillow. Shaking her head Camila headed upstairs to her room.
