Maybe I wasn't ready for life...

I woke up this morning feeling groggy. I wondered why I couldn't hear my annoying alarm. Shit...

My phone died and I'm late for school. I leaped out of bed to brush my teeth and change. I stood by my closet wondering what to wear. It was my first day of high school so I had to make a good impression. I grabbed my favorite top and ripped jeans, my Black high tops, and my White leather bag and ran out of my bedroom to the kitchen.

"Sophie you forgot your bag, again!" I heard a familiar voice, it was my mom. 

I wondered if she was in one of her "moods" again. "Evelyn get in here your going to be late young lady!" Yup, she was in one of her moods. "Coming Mom!!!" I yelled back as I walked through the doorway. "Is that what you're wearing to school? You look like a homeless woman!" I rolled my eyes and reminded her that I couldn't change because I was going to be late for school all she said was "Fine but tomorrow, wear something appropriate". Wear something appropriate? Did she want me to wear a pilgrim dress? She then told me to take my lunch and she briskly walked away. I walked outside to my dad's car and I bumped into my two annoying sisters, Sophie and Riley. That's when I realized that this was going to be a long ride.

The entire trip to school my sisters talked on and on about what they were going to do at school. I just sat quietly and read my novel. As we got off my dad started talking to me about reading and walking and how it was dangerous. All I said was "Sure, see you after school". I put my book back in my bag and went inside the school gates.

As I walked in through the main doors all I heard was laughter and chatter from friends that were reuniting after the holidays. I looked for Rachel, Justin, and Rayna but they were nowhere to be seen until I made it to my locker... 

"Hey!!!", I jumped and then saw familiar faces. Justin leaned against my locker while Rayna and Rachel embraced me in a hug. "Hey, guys! Had a nice holiday?" I said to them with a happy grin. "It was so awesome!" Rachel replied. "Really? All I did was watch shadow hunters and eat junk food..." I said. "Same!!!" I gave Rayna a high five to show her that she was not alone and we all chatted while going to our home room. 

I suddenly stopped. I saw Isaac walk past me. My heart skipped a beat, he was my crush since year 5. "Still have a crush on him?" Rachel whispered to me. She couldn't say it out in the open because the rest of my friends didn't know that I liked him. "No" I lied. I already knew he had a girlfriend, Stacey or something. As soon as I came back to reality and I realized I was staring, I looked away, my cheeks hot and red. He has the same home room as me? Well keeping this crush a secret was going to be harder than I thought.

I walked in... trying not to blush... Until I saw the prankster Shawn sitting next to a desk that had my name on it. I sat down trying not to look at Shawn. He suddenly started talking "The teacher labeled our desks, so stupid right?" "Ye-yeah really stupid..." I said nervously. He then looked down at me and then looked at his friend in the desk next to me and started laughing. I wanted to sink into the ground, right there, right then. I just made a fool of myself and right in front of the most popular prankster in school and his friend... Was this day going to be the worst day ever?
