The next day was Monday. School. Horray... I got up and went to do my daily routine. Going to the bathroom, getting dressed (outfit in the picture above), bickering with my sisters, saying bye to my mom and all that. I got into my dad's car and we drove off to school.
I walked into the building to see a girl kissing Isaac next to my locker...Eugh. I went to my locker, acting like I didn't see them. Finally, they finished and I thought, poor janitor. Isaac walked past me and said, "Hey, Evelyn..." with a wink. On the outside, I rolled my eyes but on the inside butterflies flitted around and stopped as soon as I thought... Would Shawn be jealous if he saw that? I then mentally slapped myself for thinking of Shawn...
"Evelyn? Hey, Evelyn? Are you ok?" The girl said. I looked up, realizing I was staring off, into space. "Oh, sorry..." I turned to look at the girl. Jenny? Jenny Barclay? She was popular too. Ok did I have a popular magnet? because ever since I started school after the holidays, I seem to be attracting them. Jenny was the party animal of our class. Literally. She acted like an animal at parties and most of the time, she was drunk. She was tall and had a lithe frame, with short hair and deep brown eyes, she had multiple piercings on her ears and an infinity tattoo on her left wrist. "Hi," I said in a friendly voice (I hope). "Hi, so I heard that you're going to Shawn's party," She said "Yeah..." I replied. Word travels fast around here. "So a group of girl's are going to be getting ready at my house for the party... Would you like to join?" she asked. Was she asking me to go to her house to hang out with her 'popular' friends? Maybe all the alcohol she had at the last party she went to must have made her delusional or maybe she was still drunk. "Sure..." I blurted out without thinking... again. Why was my brain making decisions without consulting me, I have no idea. "That's great! I'll text you the details!" She said happily. We exchanged phone numbers and we headed our separate ways.
"Good morning class... So today we're going to study atoms and..." Miss Claire started the lesson and when I turned around Justin was pretending to choke and gag while Miss Claire was writing on the blackboard and I began laughing, so did half the class. I couldn't help myself. "Is there something funny?" She turned around and examined the class. "No," The class said together "Good" She turned around and resumed her lesson. Suddenly the door burst open and a freaking model walked through. She had flawless skin, long black hair, gorgeous almond-shaped eyes, she was so fashionable and she wore tall high heels. I bet she'll be popular in no time. "Good morning, sorry I'm late Miss Claire," she said with a thick British accent. "Oh, you must be Roxy..." Miss Claire said. She turned to us "Class we have a new student, Roxy. Please make her feel welcome. Umm Evelyn?" "Yes, miss?" I looked up from my book. "Will you please look after Roxy and show her around?" She asked "Of course" I replied. Roxy sat next to me and said "Hi" and I replied "Hi". Everyone started copying down notes and Miss Claire was looking at us, seeing how 'Friendly' I would be. I turned to her "I know how it feels to be new at school, it's pretty nerve-racking..." I tried to start a conversation with her. "Well, I don't know how many times you've gone from school to school but I have a lot and I don't think it is... I consider myself a natural at first days at school" she said with a hair flip. What a bi- "So, class everything is made of atoms..." Miss Claire started speaking. Great, the new girl is snobby. Who else do I have to put up with today?
Me and Roxy we're walking through the halls to lunch. I was starving. During the day I had to be with Roxy at all times. I actually got to know her and she isn't as snobby as I thought. Deep down she was funny and kind. She would fit in perfectly with our squad. Suddenly a guy, dressed in all black bumped into Roxy. All her books were scattered on the floor. "Hey watch it!" Roxy said as she bent down to gather her books and I did too. "Why don't you-" He started to yell but he looked up at Roxy and started staring. Once we gathered all her books, she put one hand on her hip and started yelling at him, being all sassy "What were you gonna say?! hmm? You know what you could have at least helped... Emo nerd!" I looked up to see the one and only Methan. "Evie, you know this dude?" she asked. "Sort of, hi Meth," I said "Ahahahaha Meth? You've got to be joking" She laughed and I giggled softly. The thing was he didn't take offense, he just stared at her like he saw an angel. "Hello? I'm talking to you?" Roxy said as she waved her hand in front of his face. "Oh, uhhh sorry," He said softly. "Whatever... Let's go Evie" She said as she turned around "Ok, Rox. Bye Meth" I walked with her to the lunch room and he still continued staring...
We were at our usual lunch table and I was right, Roxy fits in fine. We were all talking and I told them about Jenny. "You're going to Jenny's place?" Rachel said, shocked. "Yup" I replied, "You must have a popular magnet..." Rayna said. "That's exactly what I thought!" I said and we high-fived. "So... any news about Shawn?" Rayna asked. I blushed pink. "Shawn?" Roxy said "Yeah, Evie's crush..." Rachel said grinning. "I do not have a crush on him!" I yelled, annoyed. "If you say so..." Rachel said, "Yes I do say so!" I said and we all laughed except for Justin. "Hey, you ok?" I asked him. He was staring off into space. "Yeah, yeah" He replied. Suddenly someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around. Oh goody. Shawn.
