I look up at Shawn and he stared down at me. His gaze showed sympathy (of me getting hit by a foot ball and colliding with the floor), and worry. I wonder why though. It's not like I mean anything to him. He just stared at at me with an intense gaze and I stared back with the same intensity, my hand in his. A throat cleared which made us spring apart. I looked up at the top of the stairs to see a guy similar looking to Shawn. He looked slightly intimidating and more grown up and manlier than Shawn yet still young and attractive. From his dark brown ruffled hair to his blue eyes with a tint of the same forest green of Shawn's eyes. He was slightly tanner than Shawn and taller too. It looked like him and Shawn were having a stare off. Until the mysterious man's gaze shifted to me. His lips turned upwards into a familiar smirk, one shared by Shawn.
"Brought home one of your 'girlfriends' brother" the man said with a low, gruff voice. Shawn's eyes widened and mine did too. I stared at him with a raised brow. "I'm not one of his 'girlfriends' for your information" I said slightly irritated since he said 'one of his girlfriend's'. "Oh, so she's one of your sluts then?" He said looking amused. I scowled at him as he walked down the steps "First of all, I'm not a slut, second of all you have no right to call me that" I said prodding his chest "third of all, I'm his tutor" I said and Shawn's brother's eyes slightly widened then went back to normal, amused. "Feisty isn't she?" He said turning to Shawn. "What are you doing back, brother?" Shawn throw gritted teeth. The harshness in his voice shocked me. "I thought you'd be happy to see me brother, after all it's been a whole year" he said "why don't you introduce me to 'little miss feisty tutor' here?" He said as if proud of the new nickname he created. Shawn turned toward me "Evelyn this is my brother Damian, Damian this is my friend Evelyn". Friend. For some reason I didn't want to be a friend. I wanted to be something else. Something that means more to him than just a friend. Damian stuck his hand out toward me and I shook it, his hand lingering on mine for more than comfortable. Shawn glared at his brother and he let go. "Anyway, I'll let you get back to your make out- I mean tutor lesson, I'll be heading out" he said as he walked off. I blushed furiously at his words and all Shawn did was chuckle. "Shall we start with the lesson?" Shawn asked. I nodded in response.
As we sat down I heard the door slam and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I looked up at Shawn. "We should probably head to my room in case he comes back..." He said. The thought of going into his room made me nervous. I've never been in a boys room but going in Shawn's room made my stomach do flips. "Sure" my voice sounded softer than I expected. Shawn raised an eyebrow at me and shrugged. I grabbed my things and followed him up the glass stairs.
We arrived at a door and Shawn pushed it slightly and walked in. I was slightly hesitant but walked in any way. His room was tidier than I expected. In the middle if the room was a king sized bed with white sheets. In the corner of the room was a black sofa and bookshelves with various things in them like CDs and a couple of books. There were posters of soccer players and trophies too. There was a glass door that led to a balcony. I put all my things down in the bed and Shawn lay down. I perched on the side. "So Damian's your elder brother?" I asked. He nodded. "Wow" Then awkward silence filled the air. I turned to Shawn. His eyes were closed and he looked peaceful. His lips quirked up into a smirk "I know I'm hot aren't I?" He said amused as he opened his eyes to look at me. He most definitely was but I didn't want to inflate his already huge ego. "Meh" I said as I shrugged my shoulders and he look at me and put a hand to his heart. "That's hurts feisty pants" he said, pretending to look sad. I scoffed and he raised his brow. "First you insult me and then you scoff at me? You need to be punished for your crimes" he said with a smirk. "Oh, how so?" I said smiling. He then moved toward me with a dark expression on his face. I stood up and moved backwards till I hit the wall. He came up to me, his hands on either side of my hands and moved closer until his face was close. "Your going to regret that" he whispered and I tensed. My heart beat quickened. He leaned in and started tickling me. I started laughing and he didn't stop. "Sto-stop" I screamed still laughing "pl-please". "Fine, say I'm hot" he said with a smirk, still tickling me. "Never!" I yelled. "Fine then" he continued this torture. "Fine your hot!" I cried out and he stopped. I started panting and clutching my sides. He started chuckling. "I should have recorded that". "Keep laughing" I said sarcastically and I rolled my eyes. "I will" he said, still laughing. It wasn't until I crossed my arms till I noticed our position. I was lying on the floor with Shawn on top of me, holding all his weight off me on his forearms. I looked up at him and he met my eyes and we just stared at each other. I then whispered in his ear breathlessly, "take a picture, it'll last longer" I then shimmied out of his hold and sat on the bed cross legged. Shawn look surprised for a moment then went to the bed and lay down again. He turned toward me. "So now what?" He said smirking, I looked at him evilly "So now we should learn about the structure of an essay..." I said and Shawn groaned in response. I smiled more the millionth time tonight.
The night went smoothly with occasional laughter and chatter. I felt happy around Shawn. We asked each other questions until I looked down at my watch. It was quarter to 12. "Oh no" I said as I face palmed. "It's so late!" I said worriedly "I have to go home" I said as I grabbed my bag and things to go. "It's late, you shouldn't be out. Bad things happen. You could get hurt" he said with concern. "Thanks Mom" I replied "why do you care anyway?" The question just slipped out without my consent. Shawn's eyes caught mine and he stared. In his eyes I saw worry, sadness and concern even a little vunerability and longing. I wanted to take away the sadness and pain etched on his face. I unwilling touched his arm and his facial expression turned blank. He shrugged "I just don't think you should go outside. The world is a bad place" he looked away. He looked toward me and smirked "and I wouldn't mind you staying" he winked. I contemplated for a moment. "Fine..." I replied, still uncertain.
