The whole day I thought about Shawn. He was the most popular kid ever and I just embarrassed myself in front of him! but not only him... his friend! The whole school day went along painfully, math, English, history until I made it to my locker for my science book. I walked past the "popular kids" and they started giggling. I didn't say anything but put my head down. Did Shawn tell them about my embarrassing moment with him?
I walked for what felt like hours til I reached my locker. I saw a figure standing by my locker, tall, handsome, green eyes, dark and thick hair, masculine that could only be one person... Shawn. I walked past him and opened my locker. "Don't worry, I didn't tell them..." He said with the most charming smile. "Tell who what?" I lied, of course, I knew who and what he was talking about. "Well, you know..." He rubbed his neck and took a deep breath. Why didn't he tell them? I mean isn't that what the populars do? Tell each other embarrassing moments like this and laugh? "It's okay, I get it..." I lied again. I really didn't get it...
Classes went by painfully and slowly, well not in English because it was my area of expertise. I saw Rayna, Justin, and Rachel in a few classes but in the rest I was alone. I discussed with Rachel of what just happened but all she said was "Maybe he's changing..." "ha, like that would happen..." I replied. I was never really able to connect with Justin and Rayna on the very touchy, feely level but with Rachel I did. She was like those best friends you saw on tv where you would gossip, laugh and other stuff 'girls' do and I actually got the privilege to have a best friend like that... I am glad I've got one.
We all sat together at lunch, laughing and chatting away at some really stupid stuff if you think about it now... but in that moment it was so funny that if anyone didn't laugh at it, they would not have been considered a human being. Suddenly... Shawn showed up with his most charming smile plastered on his face. "May I escort the madam away for a while?" He said charmingly. "Which one?" Justin started laughing but Rachel gave him a meaningful look "nevermind...". Shawn pointed to me and I stood up and started walking beside him. I gave a worried look to Rachel as I walked past them and she gave a reassuring nod back making me feel a little better.
Shit... I wonder what he's going to say... The thought rushed through my mind. Why was I so nervous? Why was he "escorting the madam"? So many questions filled my brain...So many thoughts...It was an overload. I suddenly screamed, "What do you want!?" I suddenly regretted that. "No need to get feisty, feisty pants..." he replied calmly. "Sorry, it's just, what do you want?" I said confused... I didn't know what to say. "Well, I was thinking, well, Your good at English right?" He said "Yeah..." I said. "So, maybe, you can tutor me... I'm doing really bad in English and Mrs. Murphy said to ask you if you could tutor me..." He finally finished. I was shocked... Me? tutor the prankster, the bad boy, the most handsome and popular guy in school? The player?. "Well sure..." I said, still shocked at what he said to me. "Good... Now tell this to no one...and you can tutor me on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon...see ya feisty pants!" And just like that, he walked off. I stood there, mouth open, what had I gotten into?...
