Chapter 23

Aphmau POV

"I hate you guys." I cry as I face plant the book that's on the table. We are yet again in the library that helped us find the flowers. I said I would never return.

"Well we needed all the help we could get. It's quicker to research with more people and plus, you are still reading kids books." Jin tells me, making me groan.

"I don't wanna read though! I'm sleepy!" I exclaim before yawning and placing my head on the now empty table. Suddenly, I am soaked in water, making me sit up and scream. Above me is Red with floating bottles of water next to him, an empty bottle floating above my head.

"No sleeping or you will go back to Gene's dream world." He informs me.

"And if we never find a solution?" I ask him. Barney shrugs.

"Then you don't sleep." Barney says. I look at him horrified.

"Barney! Don't worry Jess, we will find something." Jin comforts me.

"Hey guys I think I found something!" Red shouts from across the room. We stand up and walk over to him to see him putting all of the books in the right order with his magic, leaving out one. He hands it to Jin who opens it at the bookmark.

"A scale? Seriously?" Jin gives him an annoyed glare. I take the book out of his hands and read the passage.

"To prevent dream magic, the scale of the Wyvern King." Suddenly, I get a flashback.

"Raven! Are you here?" My mother shoots as she walks into a cave full of jewels. On a throne is a huge wyvern, surrounded by smaller wyverns with helmets on.

"Lady Irene! Jess! It's nice to see you again. What brings you around here?" Raven, the one on the throne, asks. He flies down in front of us.

"I was teaching Jess about wyverns and thought I should bring her here." My mother explains as I walk up to Raven.

"Hi Raven! Mom let me visit!" I smile. Raven smiles down at me and puts its snout against my cheek.

"That's nice. So you wanted to learn about wyverns? Well we are a rare species from a different dimension. Our scales are very rare and can defend against certain magic." Raven tells me.

"That's so cool!" I gasp. Suddenly, my mother grabs my wrist.

"Something is happening at the castle! We have to cut this visit short. I am so sorry but I will make sure to come around again." My mother exclaims.

"I guess I will see you next time Raven." I wave

"If you need anything then just ask me." Is the last thing I hear before I'm teleported to the throne room of the castle.

It has been two thousand years since then and I'm only just remembering.

"Jess? Hello?" Red says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"S-sorry! I was just remembering some of my memories." I say, still in a daze. Barney hits Red over the head.

"Good job dirts." He says.

"Anyway, where are we going to get a wyvern scale?" Jin asks. I raise my hand.

"Pick me! Pick me!" I jump up and down.

"Jess?" He asks.

"We can ask Raven! I haven't seen him since the day you guys shoved me through the portal." I say.

"Raven? I think that's a bird." Red says.

"No, Raven was the wyvern king last time I checked. We just have to figure out where their cave is so we can talk to him." I explain to them, making Jin pull out an orb. Suddenly, my moms face pops up on it.

"Yes Jin?" She asks. I look at the orb in amazement and she seems to notice me. "This is a communication orb. You and Jin created this." She explains to me.

"Oh! This is so cool!" I exclaim.

"We need to know the location of the wyvern king. Do you know where it is?" Jin asks her.

"Yes. But only Jess and Red can go to the cave. Anybody else would be attacked on sight." She explains.

"That is okay. Can you send me the coordinates of the cave!" Jin asks. She nods before 'hanging up'. Coordinates appear on the orb and Barney quickly writes them down on a piece of paper before handing it to Red.

"Here. Just teleport to those coordinates. You have been practicing haven't you?" Barney asks. Red nods before taking my arm.

"We will be back." Red says before teleporting us into a forest." I walk forward and instantly trip over a root.

"This isn't a cave." I glare at him as soon as I stand up. He looks around before taking out the piece of paper.

"We shouldn't be far. Let's go that way." Red points in front of us so I start walking forward.

"So how do you know Raven?" I ask. He just shrugs.

"Lady Irene took me over there once so I could help them with my magic." He explains.

"Hey look! A cave!" I shout. We both run up to it.

"Now what. Do we just go in or-" Red is cut off by a wyvern knocking him over. I am also knocked over, my arms being grabbed by the wyvern before picking me up.

"Hey! Let us go!" I shout, struggling. The wyvern just bites on my arms harder, making me cry out in pain. I can feel the blood dripping down my arms now so I stop struggling. We are carried to two different cells and are thrown in before the door was magically shut.

"Wait here until the king tells us what to do with you." They say before flying away.

"Hey! Get back here!" I shout, hitting the jail walls but I am pushed back by a magical force.

"Jess, your arm is bleeding!" Red exclaims.

"I kinda noticed that when they bit down on my arms." I sass him before sitting backwards on the wall behind me. "Now what?"

"I guess we just wait." He replies.
