song: trapdoor
take me out, and finish this waste of a life
everyone gather around for a show
watch as this man disappears as we know
do me a favor and try to ignore
as you watch him fall through a blatant trapdoor
trigger warning// depression, dysphoria
a/n: ive rewritten this 3 times

The man standing in front of you is wearing a mask. Not one of those cute masks with cat whiskers or a pig's snout. It looks kind of like a mask you'd see in the purge. It's a circular yellow smiley face. The edges were chipped, but other than that, unscathed.
The scenery takes place in a park, an old bench behind him. The moon holds a warming glow that illuminated his features and his shadow was long and skinny. He wasn't necessarily tall, but wasn't short either.
His posture is straight, no shoulder sagging or head hanging. He doesn't move a muscle. And neither do you.
The scene changes, this time he's standing by a river. The river might be in the same park, but that's unidentified. The river is bubbling and has a silver sheen from the moon, which is starting to get darker. The nights are changing.
The man's mask is now a more faded yellow, not as vibrant as it used to be. The chipped edges have exceeded and now there are small cracks developing. Its still intact though.
The scene changes once again, this time by a tree. It sounds kind of creaky, like it'll just fall apart or disintegrate in a matter of seconds. The tree is old, the bark crumbling off in flakes. A what seems like rope was hanging by one of the more sturdier branches. It was too dark to get a full image. The moon was almost gone from sight.
The man seemed to be weaker, his legs trembling from his own weight. The mask was now more white than yellow, the black ink of its eyes and mouth faded into the white almost. There was a long crack going through the entire face, the crack didn't seem to be deep enough to cause it to split in half though. It was close.
The man looked like he was going to break, along with the old tree.
Your vision goes black suddenly, confusion and shock making the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. It remains dark and black, then a loud bang followed by an explosion of light sounded out, the resource of the light being lightning, you guessed.
The man was hanging from what seemed like a noose, his head dangling and the mask now disintegrated completely. His skin held a gray tinge and blood was glistening on his lips. There were tears tracks on his pale cheeks.
It was funny because the thing that caught your attention first wasn't the body, it was the sign next to him. The sign drilled into the old, crumbling tree.
The sign read, "NOBODY."
Just as you had read the sign, the ground underneath you seemed to give out and you found yourself falling faster and faster. After a few moments of the plummeting, the ground found itself underneath your feet.
Then the entire process restarts.
You watch somebody who's clarified as "nobody," wear the mask that everybody wants to see. But as the days go on, the mask starts to wear thin and grows more damaged. It grows so damaged it falls part completely. And it's too late to be fixed, because the man has already left.

he thinks that faith might be dead
nothing kills a man faster than his own head
he used to see dreams at night
but now he's just watching the backs of his eyes
