Chapter one

Junior year : Day one

The bus rumbled, bounced and wheezed itself all the way to Lexington High School, I was riding the bus because my truck was in the shop needing minor repairs.

It was mid-august and not only is it the first day of school for all the students in Lexington, KY but it is my first day at this school. However today I should be in New York going to my original high school where I have friends. Yet my parents dragged me down to Kentucky their justification is that its "for my own good."

Ever since I fell off my horse Chance, almost 3 years ago when I was 14, my parents have been worried. I've always loved horses and ever since I was little I dreamed of being in the Olympics. So my parents took me down to my grandparents farm where I learned how to ride and eventually I got my own horse who I started showing with. It was a dream come true and everything was going perfectly until I was going through a cross country course the horse fell and I fell with it. It scared me so much I haven't got back on a horse, to tell you the truth just being close to a horse makes me flinch. We sold Chance to an old lady who promised him the rest of his life in a big field eating grass, since an injury to his front leg promised him no more riding. After 3 years and no interest in horses my parents have brought me back to Lexington, KY where my grandparents' farm is. They're worried that this fall has made me too scared to ever get on a horse again. I've tried over and over again to tell them I'm through with the horse phase but there determined I'm just afraid of that nasty fall. Maybe there right but I'm too stubborn to care.

Since I'm starting fresh at this school I've really outdone my self with my appearance. Instead of putting my long blond hair in a pony tail, I've straitened it and styled it. Parting it to the side. I actually put on make-up and not just foundation and concealer but a coat of mascara and eyeliner. And now I'm wearing a skirt that comfortably reaches my finger tips when I hold them to my sides and a pretty pink and white blouse.

When the bus pulls up to the school lot and I climb out I cant help but notice that almost every kid is either texting on there phone or rocking out to a song on there I-Pod. I sling my book bag on my left shoulder and make my way up to Lexington, KY  High School's main office building. Inside the school it's cool unlike the humid, sticky air outside. The lady behind the attendance desk smiles at me and I walk to her.

"May I help you?" she asked

"Um yah I'm new here and I was wondering if I could get my schedule here?"

"You didn't get it in your mailbox?" she looked confused

"Um I enrolled really late"

"Ok. Name?"

"Camilla Carroll"

She spent a minute going through her computer before printing out a piece of paper and handing it to me.

"There you are. Have a great first day!" she dismissed me and then I took a glance at my squedule.

Before school started I got the choice to choose my elections Theater sounded fun and for my Forgein Language (that every one needed at least 2 years of to graduate High School) was Spanish. Since it was my first year of taking Spanish I had to take Spanish 1 a class with all freshmen... lovely.

The bell rang a high shrilly sound and I took one last look at my schedule before heading to my first period.

Mrs.Grayson was the ordinary math teacher. Gray hair, wacky choice of clothing and her voice bored us all to sleep. I wasn't the best in math so I tried to pay attention to her but today she was only going over classroom rules and expectations so I resigned to drawing doodles and writing lyrics on the front of my folder.
