Chapter four
My truck was still in the shop. Apparently those “minor” repairs turned out to be not so small after all. I sighed as I threw my book bag in the passenger seat of my mom’s Mercedes. I hopped into the car and pulled out of the student parking lot. The gas tank in the Mercedes was doing reasonably well but after a few times driving up and down from school I would be out. Better sooner than later to get a job now.

After 2 hours driving up and down the streets of the town’s small center, I felt like giving up. It seemed that the only jobs available were a waitress at a little Country club but their hours were too demanding or working part-time at the small in-town Wal-Mart. I pulled out my phone and texted Meagan.
//Be home soon, No luck finding a job :( //
After unsuccessfully checking one more beauty parlor for a job I got back in the Cedes and drove home. Guess I was going to have to take up my Grandfather’s offer on working around the farm.
Suddenly I get another text, thinking it’s from Meagan I pull over and stop at a food market parking lot so that I could read the text. I was wrong it was from Wesley.
//Still looking for a job?//
//Yes!// I quickly texted back.
//Good! If your interested stop by my place.//
Puzzled I text back an agreement and drive towards Wesley’s house. I already knew where he lived since Marisa and I went over there to work on a Theater project we had to finish yesterday.
When I pull in front of Wesley’s home he’s already waiting for me outside. I smile and wave at him noticing how nice he looks in dark blue jeans and a plaid shirt.
I exited my car and hugged Wesley
“Hey, what’s this about?” I ask
“Well I heard my dad talking about how he was hiring and I remember yesterday how you said you were looking for a job.”
“I am.” I agreed “What would I be doing?”
“Well my dad owns the local dentist office up the road but I don’t know what he has in mind for his new employee. He’s inside the house right now if you’re interested.”
“Sure, sounds great so far.”

Within the hour I walk out of Wesley’s home and to my car with him by my side.
“That went great!” He said pleased
“I guess we’ll be seeing each other at work.”
“Yup I’ll be there this Saturday too.”
We said our goodbyes and then I entered the car. I turned on the ignition and took a moment to think about how well things had went. Dr. Cartwell, the owner and head Dentist for Family’s Dentistry had been all too kind throughout the interview. The position he wanted to fill was one that fit perfectly for me --after school hours and Saturday-- pretty much I had to keep the waiting room and game room in order, wash the dentist cloths and dentist cleaning wear. Dr. Cartwell (but, of course, he told me to just call him Jerry) after just 20 minutes offered me the job.
Not that I had any choice but I still eagerly accepted, my first day there would be this Saturday. However the first thing I‘d have to do when I got there would be to fill out the application then I’d be officially hired.
I was so happy when I arrived at Eraser that I almost skipped up the drive way to the house. I heard a nicker from the front pasture (the one beside the drive way in front of the house) and looked to see Honey at the fence beside a dark buckskin. I smiled at her before entering my Grandparents home through the porch door.
