Chapter nine

Christmas Break. The thought of two weeks of rest enveloped me with relief and joy. Two weeks to spend time riding my horse, Honey. Two weeks to spend time throwing snowballs at my family, and two weeks hanging out with my new boyfriend, Wesley Cartswell. After my Spanish final I had hurried to Theater Class, Wesley was waiting for me after class, like usual, but this time he had confessed to me that he had liked me for some time now and then he asked me to be his girlfriend. I hadn’t realized until then that I had been waiting for him to ask this question and of course I knew that I had always liked Wesley. After taking my last final on Friday I had been relieved to know that I passed all my classes with A’s, even math, in my other grades I had always been around a 90, the class had almost made me lose my 4.0 but my extra studying in Mrs. Gray’s class let me receive a 95 this semester.

It was Saturday the first day of Break and I had overslept, the price you pay when you stress all week long, I look out the window of my room to rule what type of day it will be today. White Snow blankets the ground. In the Back pasture I see that Grandpa and the other grooms put away all the horses so that no one would slip on ice or freeze. Still in my pajamas I stumble down stairs.

“Hey baby” Mom greets to me when I enter the kitchen

“Hi, Mom.” I say as I stumble to the coffee maker. A pot has already been brewed for the whole family. I take a cup and pour milk, sugar and Chocolate Peppermint flavored creamer in mine.

I take a sip of the hot drink and enjoy the feel of the hot liquid as it runs down my throat.

“Grandma made sausage, eggs and pancakes” Mom tells me “Your plate is in the microwave to keep it’s warmth” she adds

“Thank you.” I reply while taking the still hot plate out of the microwave. I sit down at the kitchen table and eat and drink my meal. I wish I always didn’t have to rush to school in the morning so I could enjoy a nice breakfast.

Once I’m done I pull out my phone. I have Text messages from Marisa, Wesley and Halie.

I open Wesley’s first which is just a warm greeting and a ‘we need to hang out soon’ I smile and text back

//I agree <3//

I text while stealing a glance out the now frozen window, I can barley see out the window now since the snow is falling so hard and fast that it’s blocking out all images of outside.

“Marisa’s text is a

//Happy Christmas Break!// and I reply with the same

But when I open Halie’s text she replies

//I miss you, I’m glad u have a boyfriend 2! I’m going out w/ Eric do u remember that guy n r LA class? This summer u r coming 2 NY or I’m coming down there b/c we need 2 catch up!//

Out of all my friends in New York I have to admit I miss Halie the most. Visiting NY would be so much fun but the thought of living there ever again is distasteful. Kentucky has been my home since I was little and now I feel so comfortable here, like I belong.

//OK so we’ll definitely make plans!//

I replied back.

Because of us being snowed in today, Meagan, My parents, me and my Grandparents spent the day as a family. We watched DVD’s and Home Videos of when Meagan and I was young. We also played board games and Grandma made one of my Dad’s favorites of her home made dishes, Cheesy Lasagna with home made mashed potatoes.
