Chapter 6 -
Suddenly, someone ran out of the stair door with a camera and started taking pictures. Jake pulled away from me. I turned around, cameras flashing in my face. I used my hand to shield my face.
"What going on!?" I shouted.
The people with cameras started shouting out questions.
"Who is she? Is she a girlfriend?" one camera man asked.
"Open the door." Jake panicked.
I opened the door, pulled him inside, and slammed the door in their faces. I slid down into a sitting position. Jake looked down at me laughing.
"What?" I asked.
He shook his head and continued laughing. I started laughing too.
I got up and walked over to the counter to see a note. It was from Megan. She said she was out on a date with Dylan. I'm guessing that's Jake's friend.
"What was that all about?" I looked up at Jake.
"It's nothing," Jake promised me.
"Who are they? Why were they taking pictures of us? I want answers, Jake." I demanded.
"They're paparazzi. They are trying to ruin "my image"," Jake answered.
"Why would the paparazzi want pictures of us? How could they ruin your "image"?" I asked.
"They were taking pictures of us, because I'm...I'm...I'm Jo-" Jake was interrupted by the ringing of his phone.
"I'm sorry," Jake apologized walking over to the opposite side of the room.
"Yo, this Josh." Jake answered the phone.
"Uh huh. Yah. I'm sorry. I'm kind of a little busy right now," Jake looked over at me and then to the door.
"No, I didn't see the photos, but I did see the paparazzi. The girl I'm with? Well-" Jake started.
"She's not just "some girl"!" Jake screamed at the phone.
"I'm sorry. Look, I didn't think anyone would find me here. I understand I'm in a big city." Jake apologized.
"Yah. I got it. Well, take care of it. Okay?" Jake asked.
"I have to go. Bye." Jake hung up the phone.
"Sorry about that," Jake said.
"That's okay," I replied.
"Oh yah! Where were we?" Jake asked.
"You were telling me why they were taking pictures of us." I stated.
"Right. Right. Well, you see, I'm different." Jake started.
"Everyone's different," I laughed.
"But I'm a special kind of different. I'm not normal." Jake continued.
"What do you mean?" I asked, curiously.
"Caitlyn, my name isn't Jake. It's just a nick name. Like JHutch." he confessed.
"Everyone has a nickname," I laughed.
"Caitlyn, I haven't been completely honest with you. I thought you knew," he proceeded.
"You thought I knew what?" I asked, anxious now.
"Caitlyn, my real name is-" Jake confessed.
