Chapter 11 -
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen. Megan was already up.
"Hey, you're up early..." I started.
"No. You just slept in really late," Megan pointed at the clock that read 11:30am.
"Wow! I haven't slept this long since middle school," I replied.
"How did you sleep way longer than me? We went to bed at the same time..."Megan started.
"I laid awake in bed for a while," I answered.
"Doing what?" Megan asked.
"Talking to Jo...I mean Jake," that was close.
"Awww...you really like this guy, don't you?" Megan made me blush.
"Yah. We are kind of having a fight though, but we made up...I think...I don't know," I replied.
"I promise you. If he hurts you, I will personally push him off a bridge," Megan answered.
"That's a little violent...don't you think?" I stepped back with my hands held up in surrender.
"Maybe...When am I gonna meet this guy anyways?" Megan asked.
"Uhhhh...What about you?" I tried to change the subject.
"Don't try and change the subject," Megan gave me "the look".
Darn! She knows me all to well.
"I'm not, but I don't even know this guy. He could be a creeper," I lied.
"Really, Caitlyn? That's what you're going for?" Megan laughed.
This lying thing is harder than I thought. Imagine how hard it must have been for Jake...
Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a text from Jake.
"Is that your lover-boy now?" Megan teased.
I blushed and opened the text.
From Jake:
Hey, are you doing anything today?
To Jake:
Yah.
From Jake:
Oh. I was just hoping we could hang out on our last day together...
To Jake:
Jk.
From Jake:
Oh good. You scared me for a minute.
To Jake:
Lol.
From Jake:
So I was hoping that we could meet up at Joe's Burgers and then go to Central Park?
To Jake:
Sounds good to me.
From Jake:
Then, after we walk and talk at the park, we can maybe go out to eat at Outback? I have some news to give you. Maybe afterwards we could see a movie or something?
To Jake:
Are you serious!? I love Outback! It's my favorite restaurant.
From Jake:
Me too! :)
To Jake:
What time do you want me to meet you at Joe's Burgers?
From Jake:
Actually, I can come pick you up. I just wanted to see if you were interested first.
To Jake:
Works for me. So, what time should I be ready then?
From Jake:
1:30?
To Jake:
See you then.
From Jake:
Can't wait!
"Are you even listening, Caitlyn?" I looked up from my phone and Megan was staring at me.
"Yah. I was just-" Megan cut me off.
"No, you weren't. We're best friends. Remember? I can see right through you," Megan stated.
That's one thing I wish I could do. I wish I could read people like her. I wish I could have seen right through Jake. Maybe things could have been different between us. No lies. Some day. Maybe.
