Chapter X - The truth

Nero: I opened my eye slowly. The dawn light of the morning gave the tree above me a beautiful view. I turned my head on the left and I had seen that the others were already awaken. I tried to get out, but my back hurts really bad.
Danny noticed and came to me. He said that I need some time to recover from that explosion.
I tried to remember everything and I asked Danny to bring me that scroll. The scroll was composed by five articles of newspaper.

"The day of December the 6th 2016 will always be remembered as the first people infected with the virus appeared in our ways. The scientists are still looking for the cure"
The 6th of December. I remember this date like it was yesterday.

It was a cold weather. Me and Adrian were at the airport. He was about to leave the country. I remember how we hugged before he embarked to his plane. I remember how we had promised to each other that no matter what will happen, we will always protect each other, no matter of what will happen. Two years later we had met again and now it seems that I am risking my life for him.
My grandfather was saying something about repairing my mistake.I tried to remember the last two years but it seems that everything is dark because of the monotony.
I had drawn my attention back to the other articles. The second article was telling about the people who were disappearing. Their number was growing higher and higher. The next one filled my soul with hope. On the right corner it could had been clearly seen the hexagon symbol.

"The H.E.X. Company discovered a way to reverse the effect of the virus. To fortify the immunity of the organism, the uninfected human should take a dose of pills that they had created. There are also theories that mention the fact that these pills are making the human going crazy just like an infected one.
The H.E.X. Company asked about such things, refused to believe that such thing could happen..."

At least we had found out what that symbol means. The next article was talking about shadows and apparitions and the last one had frozen the blood inside me. It contained Adrian's picture and the word "WANTED!" Ignoring my back pain, I get on my feet and took the gun near me. I aimed to Adrian's head and yelled that he has 35 seconds to tell me the truth or I'll kill him.

Alex: Nero was going crazy. Was he talking serious about killing him?

'Well? You have 25 more seconds.' He said.

Adrian was calm and refused to say something. A fire shot came out of Nero's weapon and the bullet scratched a little Adrian's earlobe.

'That wasn't a miss.'

Alia and Danny were watching very surprised this scene and tried to understand what was going on.

'Last chance.' Nero yelled.

Adrian posted in front of the gun and shouted.

'Then do it, you idiot!'

Nero let down the weapon and Adrian told him that he wasn't strong enough to kill. Nero thrown him a punch on the face and yelled again:

'I had given you enough chances and what are you doing?'

Alia: Nero's voice tone was different at that moment. He never used this tone before.

'Then why you saved my life?' Adrian asked.

'Because you knew about H.E.X. Company before saving you from that guy in your house. Is that why are you searched for? Or there is something else?' Nero replied.

'I...'

'You know what? I got tired of this situation. Right now you will go on your own way.'

I was shocked of this decision. What was in his mind? Adrian, with a shocked look, put his hands in his pockets and went on his own way to the morgue. I tried to convince Nero of his mistake, but he was hard to make him change his mind.

'I already know what he is hiding: He is involved with the H.E.X. Company.'

Nero: I looked at the team that had been by my side all this time and started to match the pieces of this puzzle:

'So on short the H.E.X. Company had accidentally reproduced the virus. Or that or they had created it. I don't know how is Adrian involved in such thing, but something had interfered with their plans.' I had started to explain.

'And that's why we should protect him!' Alia tried to convince me.

'My only purpose for coming to this hospital was to take him a sample of blood and to examine it, but it seems that our progress was higher that I had ever expected.'

'And what if Adrian really has the andtidote?' Asked Alia.

I had looked at her and said that the antidote was not at Adrian. It was in the H.E.X. Company.
