I stalk away from the hundreds of master assassins that I had defeated. My test was over. I could start my mission. I was top of my league and had defeated the hundred best assassins in the Realm, leaving me the most powerful of all. The Chief Assassin. The leader of the Assassin's League. A fitting title to the woman who would kill the King. I was only sixteen and I had already killed thousands of horrible people, that including my parents.
I turn to see the trainees gasping at me.
"It's blood. Not nuclear waste. Chill out," I call over to the girl who was trying not to blow chunks all over the practice arena. I hadn't killed anyone, lucky them, only knocked them out and caused a few broken arms and legs.
"Chief Shadow, it's a pleasure to see you again," my former mentor, one who I had outgrown and defeated, steps forward. I nod my head in respect of an Assassin Elder, even though he was only thirty-five.
"Master Merlyn, I though you had business in the fourth quadrant? Why have you not taken to your assignment, the order came from a generous paying man?" I asked, and I being the "all powerful" Chief Assassin he had to answer honestly.
"My Lord, I came to see you take the League into your own hands by defeating Master Hayden. You are the first female Chief in existence. I came to congratulate my former apprentice," he gave a devious grin, which I took as a challenge to my power.
"As Chief, I have the power to kill you. Doesn't that hurt your pride, a sixteen year old girl is your Master. Now why don't you tell me what you are really doing here?" I snarl. He throws his hands up in defeat.
"I came to challenge you, but I now see your power Master. I wish for your forgiveness! I beg for your forgiveness!" he pleads at my feet. I scoff at his pathetic foolishness.
"I don't forgive those who lie," my hands are at his neck. "Goodbye Master Merlyn." I twist his neck at an ungodly angle and let him fall limp at my feet.
"APPRENTICES JEWEL AND MAVERICK FRONT AND CENTER!" I shout at a blonde girl in the corner of the room and a slick, black haired boy in the center. They rush over at my calling.
"Yes, Chief," they saying bowing.
"You are to take mine and Master Merlyn's places on the council. Go find two reasonable Apprentices in the Prison. Make sure they will obey you, for they are your responsibility," I dismiss them and head to the Chief's office. Pulling open the door I notice that the old Chief's belongings have been removed from the room by an apprentice. The office connects to a large bedroom with its own bathroom. The walls a shade of black with crimson bedcovers and carpet. The dresser is filled with clothes my size and the closet contains my arsenal. Katanas, daggers, poison tipped darts, long silver blades, and my pride possession a black bow with a rose carving in the metal. The arrows are tipped with a red paint. My signature. All my weapons have red paint on the lethal part to show my presence. I chose the color because it was Ali's favorite. She would wear long flowing red dresses to the Church on Sundays before she was murdered. I missed her to my heart's desire. Every breath I spent was one she could never have, never get to have. She would never again ask me to play dollies, never look at the clouds at the park, never run through the mud puddles, never read her favorite book, never again sing in the bathtub, never live that life that was denied to her. She would never know how much I loved her because I never told her.

Sorry for the shorter chapter! I'll try to make the next one longer, no guarantees. Also check out my other book, Consequences of a Full Moon. My plan is to work on both books more during the weekends. How do you feel about this book or is it too basic? Comments some new character ideas!
