Brie had gone out and got me a new outfit for the ball. She and I had grown closer after I named her Chief Apprentice. Now she was like an errand runner for me. She was also my fashionista as well, saying as she wouldn't let me buy my own clothes for the ball as well as hair and makeup. I looked like a dress up doll on steroids, but apparently I look like a Goddess. I was wear a long, silky black dress that stops at my ankles revealing a pair of silver heels that pinch my toes and cause blisters. My black hair is in an updo bun with a few stray bands of hair puffing out. Brie had done my makeup and I didn't like it. It stuck to my face making me a different person, I hated it, but I would at least get to see him again tonight at the ball. It might be the last time I see him.

Elliot would not drop it. I dressed up for the first time in ages. To see her. My brown hair was slicked back and I wore a black suit with a single red rose in the front pocket.
"DAMN! Dude she won't be able to keep her hands off you, I mean I barely can," Elliot kept trying to get me to laugh, but I was terrified for the night to come. For the realization that she would make. I wouldn't blame her when she left me, I blame myself for lying. I'm not good enough for her, for anyone.
"I just hope she knows what she's doing."

That morning I had received a letter sealed with the Royal Seal. I almost threw it away, but realized it was for the ball. Sighing I tore it open and read the contents:
Shadow May Alister, damn they found my middle name,
The Prince formally invites you to join him and your plus one to the Ball in honor of the suitors. You have been selected as a Suitor and are required to make an appearance on behalf of the King. This letter is an invitation to the Prince's Suitor Ball, we hope to see you. -PCF
I was now standing at the gates of the castle. They towered over me menacing and cold. My heart races although I felt no emotion I was feeling like I should be nervous. I was a Suitor. If he chose me there's no escaping, well unless you're an assassin, but I have my own plan for tonight. I could feel the cold metal of the arrow against my thigh. My bow was hidden under my jacket that was far to big.
"I'm sorry Colton, but this is my closest chance for a while. I can't let him live or his son," my words hissed at the word. How could the King produce a spawn? He was known to be twice as evil, and I would kill him.
Guards practically dragged me into the ballroom where thousands of people stood staring at him. The King. My first target. The Prince was no where in sight. Neither was Colton. This was my chance. I walked to the farthest corner of the room and pulled off the jacket. Not a single person noticed me. Slowly I drew up my dress. I suddenly felt a warm hand on my shoulder. Startled I grab the hand and twist it so the figure flips.
"Really? Come on Shad! It's just me for heaven's sake!" I hear a cry. It's only Colton.
"What the hell you jerk! I could've broke your neck!"
"Ha. But you didn't," he laughed and suddenly looked nervous. "Look Shad, I need to tell you something before it's too late." I look at him weirdly.
"Look okay now's not the time. I'm on a mission. I can't pass up killing the King now!" I whisper.
"Now? Shad are you sure?" he looks shocked.
"Yes. I have to. It could be my last chance to kill both of them!" I respond. He looks hurt.
"Well than do it," he stands arms wide waiting.
"What do you mean? Not you! The Prince and King! Now move before I take up your offer," I say. He doesn't move, but looks at me in sorrow. "No. Don't lie to me! You aren't him! You can't be! I can't love the Prince!" I shout before realizing what I said.
"I am, and Shadow. I love you but I have never did have the chance to be with you did I?" he asks looking at me.
"That's the sad part. You did once."
