After our eventful night of revealed secrets, things go back to normal for the most part. Our small clique, as we used to called it, begins making more of an effort to stay in touch with one another than usual considering we had been beyond clueless as to what had been happening in each other's lives for months but otherwise we continue on.

It's been a few weeks now and Halloween is quickly approaching as well as my best friend's due date which meant that the vivacious blonde was now noticeably absent from Abigail Adams.

I sigh, pushing my salad around the bowl, wishing that Maya were here to talk to. I look around at the other teachers who were circled up at their own separate tables and realize that perhaps making new friends wouldn't be the end of the world. I go to stand up when my phone rings.

Maya's name lights up the screen and I smile. Then again, who needed new friends when you had Maya?

"Hey Peaches. I was just thinking of you." A couple members of the staff look at me confusedly as the nickname slips out and I roll my eyes. I had been calling her that since we were seven, it was too late to change it.

"Uh actually-."

Josh doesn't get another word out. There was only one reason why Josh would be using Maya's phone. "Oh my god." I jump out of my seat, leaving my food behind. "What hospital? How close is she?" I demand, running to my classroom to grab my keys.

"I didn't even tell you what was happening" he chuckles. I roll my eyes. My best friend was due in a matter of days, I didn't need a rocket scientist or an OBGYN for that matter, to tell me that she was in labor.

"Joshua are you going to give me the details I'm asking for or not? I'd chose quickly because your fiancèe will kick your ass if you make me miss this."

I grab my keys off my desk and rush to the office. I needed to put in a substitute request for the rest of the day. I knock on the principal's door and I'm shocked when Jonathan walks out. "Uncle Jonathan."

"Turner is there?" Josh questions across the line.

"Hey" Turner nods. "Need something?"

"I-" I stutter. "Yes. Maya needs me."

A knowing grin spreads across his lips. "Shawn texted me that he was finally becoming a grandfather today. I'll get your substitute arranged."

"And Avery? I uh kinda need her too."

He waves me off. "I'll make sure she's excused."

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you" I reply rapidly, kissing his cheek before I head back out of the office to pick up my daughter. "Josh, just text me the details. I'll be there as soon as I can."

I push open the door to my daughter's Spanish class and everyone's heads turn in my direction. Avery's eyes meet mine and her eyebrows furrow. "Mom?"

"Hi." Señora Ramirez has joined the kids in their confused looks now and I take a deep breath, trying to slow down my heart from all the running I've been doing in the past few minutes. "I need her" I explain. "Her aunt is in labor."

At that, Avery is jumping out of her seat and pulling her phone from her pocket to presumably text Hayden as she makes her way towards me. "Adios Señora" Avery waves before walking out the door with me. "Where exactly are we going? Did you call dad?"

"Josh is texting me the details and I'm calling your dad on the way. Come on. We have a baby to meet."

The receptionist gives me the runaround for about twenty minutes, giving Lucas enough time to join us, before Josh makes it to the lobby to get me. "You mind waiting down here?" Josh asks my daughter and boyfriend. "There can only be so many people."
