Avery's POV
There's already a text waiting for me on Saturday morning as I'm climbing out of the shower. The green light on the screen keeps flashing and it takes all my willpower to walk past it and go change.
I decide not to dress up too much since I was only going to Hayden's today, opting for a pair of dark wash jeans and the same sweater that he had talked me into buying two weeks ago.
Finally, I walk back into my bathroom and grab my phone now finding three missed calls along with the seven texts. I chuckle, dialing his number.
He picks up on the first ring. "Eager to talk to me?" I tease.
He chuckles. "When am I not?" He asks with the same teasing inflection in his voice. "But in all seriousness, my mother is going to the store and wants to know what snacks you eat. Also, she doesn't believe that you like macaroni and cheese; as if a teenager would hate such a delicacy" he adds making me laugh. "So, I need you to assure her that the menu for this evening is to your satisfaction."
"Wow. This is serious. Babe, I don't know if I can make such a huge decision without properly thinking this through."
He laughs along with me as I walk back to my room to start packing. "Really though, tell your mom to stop worrying so much. Dinner will be great and I eat the same things you eat. Whatever you want is fine."
"I told her that" he huffs. I let out another soft chuckle. The thing about Hayden's mother was that when she had a good day, it was great; she was supermom but on the days where the bottle won out over her family she could quickly turn into your worst nightmare.
Luckily, the promotion that Hayden's father was in line for was keeping her in a good place as of late. I just hated the thought of what was going to happen if the plans fell through.
"What time are you picking me up?" I ask, changing the subject while I scour through my dresser for pajamas. I didn't know what to pack. I supposed it wouldn't matter, Hayden has seen me in pajamas before but we would be alone. Kinda.
"I don't know. Three maybe" he suggests. I nod in agreement, still staring at my dresser drawer. "Av" he says after a moment of silence.
"What should I wear to bed tonight?" I ask abruptly.
He chuckles. "Clothes would be a good start. This doesn't have to awkward Av. We've had sleepovers before."
I sigh, snatching a pair of red plaid pajama shorts and an oversized black sweatshirt and toss them into my bag before I can think twice. "I know but we weren't dating during those sleepovers."
"And? Nothing's changed. We'll still stay up until all hours of the morning probably watching a Disney movie I pretend to hate until we finally fall asleep."
The thought makes a smile tug at my lips. "Stop worrying. I'll see you this afternoon."
"Mkay. I love you."
"I love you too Avvy." With that we hang up and I continue to flit around my room throwing the rest of my stuff into my bag. Tonight was going to be fine. I needed to stop thinking so much.
I trusted Hayden more than anyone. He wasn't just my boyfriend, he was my best friend. My favorite person in the world.

Lucas' POV
Avery is up already when I walk out of mine and Riley's room. I can hear her moving about her room, opening and closing drawers while her footsteps pounded against the carpet.
