Of course I would've been intrigued by the strange structures, but even more strange was a series of notebooks left behind by the same man, only in different places. They were very helpful indeed. But, who and why was the man here?
Rishka woke up the next morning, looking around. She saw Mark, then remembered everything that happened. He was on his side with his arms tucked underneath him. Rishka yawned, then stood up. She looked behind her and saw that Jack was gone. He must've left to go hunting.
She looked around and saw a small crevice, small enough for her to get into with ease. She cautiously walked over to investigate, but a strange growl-like roar sounded off, then another roar followed, along with an earthquake. She turned around and saw Jack getting up off of Mark who was now on his back.
Rishka giggled and continued towards the crevice, picking up a stick and checking her bag. She had cloth and a lighter. She tied the cloth around the branch and ignited the cloth. She walked into what was a cave. She heard whining and turned to see Jack trying to retrieve her. She walked over to the giant, and put one hand on his finger. He looked at her with worried eyes. Had he already attached himself to her? If only they could talk.
"Hey, I'll be alright, I'm just going to look around. No need to lose your head." Rishka said.
Jack whined again, giving her puppy eyes. She ignored his beg for her to not leave and ventured forth, creating and lighting a torch as it got darker. She saw a giant skull and gasped with surprise. She crept towards the skull, and saw a desk inside from a hole drilled into the side. She went inside, and found a book, a map,and a weird bracelet with beautiful crystals. She put on the bracelet and it snapped, clinging to her skin. She tried to take it off, but no avail. She shrugged and picked up the book. It had some missing pages.
"Tim Wilford?" She read. She opened the book and began to read.
May 27th, 1659
My name is Tim Wilford, I have embarked on an expedition that could change history as we know it! I am going to be traveling out to what we call Davy Jones Hideaway. No one has ever returned from being around the island. Only two people survived, Martin Racht and "Lucky". Everyone thought they were mad. We ventured out from England 3 months ago, 2 days before my birthday.
We landed two days ago on the northern shore, and instantly we came across an old titanic being. A giant. We took up shelter in a cave, I made my quarters out of a giant human skull. How this was here was a mystery, there was no way, the opening of the cave was too small. Other than that, my men yesterday reported back to me, saying things like "some of the Giants preferred to hide." Stuff like that. I went out and took notes. I divided these giants into three types: warrior, Hunter, and sorcerer.
Warriors are rather built and travel in small groups, and are sometimes a little slow. They have a tyrannosaurus like roar, and are very strong. The next type we've identified is hunter. These behave like tigers when hunting and travel in packs. They have a coarse, growl-like roar and are very clever indeed, as well as analytical and rather curious. They are not very strong but their deathly silence, intelligence, and speed makes up for that. The last type is a sorcerer. They are not relatively strong, but have spells, particularly spells to control other giants and beasts on this island. They are highly intelligent and are cunning, using manipulation to turn creatures on their side. They hate humans, and three of my men were killed by it. They have a terrifying scream that can give even the devil nightmares.
These giants are very intriguing, but the feature that really caught our attention was the alien architecture that we've seen. We will be heading out tomorrow. I pray that I won't leave my journals here on this island.
Sincerely,
Tim Wilford
Rishka closed the book. She grabbed the torch and walked out of the room, putting the book into her bag. As soon as she walked out she heard a strange squawk and froze. She turned around slowly and saw a Pteranodon looking at her.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have any fish on me." She said, backing towards the cave entrance. A couple more Pteranodons came out of the shadows. One flew towards her, landing in front of her.
"J-Jack, Mark, help." She said, backing away more.
The dinosaurs squawked and flew at her. Rishka turned around and started running. She felt talons grab her and began thrashing and screaming in protest. She heard a coarse roar, and felt gravity yank her out of the sky. Both her and the dinosaur fell, but Jack caught her. The Pteranodon caught itself and circled the giant. Jack roared then swiped at it, hitting its beak. It flew off with the rest of the pteranodons. Jack looked at Rishka with worried eyes. She looked back up at him, then sat down on his palm. Mark approached and looked at the two, as if he was trying to say, "What happened?"
"Well, at least I didn't get hurt!" Rishka said.
Jack glared and rolled his eyes, putting Rishka on his shoulder, continuing on towards the strange structures in the distance.
