The Return of the Stutter

Jess P.O.V.

“Dad please stop worrying about me. I am fine now.” I said trying to reassure my dad that I am ok. “Honey you know how hard it is for me to know that I couldn’t protect you. That I wasn’t there to take it all away for you; I wish I could but I can’t.” My dad said getting teary eyed. “Hey no more crying daddy! I am still your baby girl. Let’s make this a great summer!” I said hugging my giant teddy bear aka my dad. He just laughed.

“Yes, now let’s go see what the boys are up to. Who knows what they can get into?” My dad said dragging me to Louis’ room. I have only been around my stepbrother and his friends so I know what they are capable of. I was surprised to see that the room is still kept together and that the 5 boys are actually just playing video games.

“Wow you guys actually kept this clean.” My dad said with surprise in his voice. “Hey we aren’t that bad Pauly boy!” Niall said. I laughed and walked over to the couches. The only available spot was next to Harry so I took it. “Ok well boys rest up! You got another concert tomorrow! I will be in trouble if you guys aren’t as good as you were tonight!” “Yes Paul daddy! I will make sure we do get rest.” Liam said with a smirk. “Oh knock it off with the daddy stuff Liam! I know what you are capable of. You are not so innocent mister!” My dad said walking out of the room.

“Boys we should really get to bed. It’s already past one in the morning.” Zayn said standing up. “Yeah I am tired. Let’s go Zayn!” Liam said as they waved and said good night leaving to go back to their room. “Well Jess shall we go back?” Harry asked me. “Yeah. Night boys! Oh Niall I heard you like Nandos too! We should go grab some tomorrow!” I said. “Y-Yeah sure. Are you sure?” Niall asked looking between Harry and I. “Yeah. You remind me of my best guy friend Brendan!” “Ok I will come grab you tomorrow.” Niall said.

Harry and I walked back into our room silently. I feel like he is mad at me, did I do something wrong? “God Jess you always screw things up with boys. You should seriously give up.” My mind tells me.  Harry walking in to the room from the bathroom interrupts me. How long was I standing there silently listening to my evil mind talk me down? I finally fined my voice to confront him. “H-harry are you o-okay?” I stutter. Oh no not good, I think to myself. Deep breaths Jess, you will be fine. “Do you have feelings for Niall? If so I can have him come in here and I can room with Louis.” Harry says rather angry. I back away and reach for my phone getting ready to speed dial my dad. “N-no. I want to get to know all you guys! Seriously! Honestly he really acts like my best friend Brendan back in Colorado! I-I-I…” I didn’t finish. I couldn’t.

“Jess, everything is ok. Calm down. I was just wondering. If you think of him as a friend that is fine, please just take a deep breath for me.” Harry said rushing to me. He pulls me close to him and I just grab on to his shirt. I felt safe, something I haven't felt since John. Well there was my ex between that but he was still nothing like being with Harry. I don't want to move but I really want to change out of these clothes. 

Harry’s P.O.V.

Jess latched on to me and I honestly am scared. I don’t know what came over me. I just got jealous that she wanted to spend time with Niall and not me. “Hey Jess! I am sorry I got so jealous I…” “WHAT? You got jealous? Of Niall?” Jess asked laughing. “What is so funny?” “Harry don’t get jealous of Niall. I can tell he’s not my type. Yeah he is cute and all but he’s not the one for me.” Jess said getting up and walking into the bathroom. I wonder who is the right guy for her.

Jess came out of the bathroom and we got into our beds. I didn’t realize how tired I was until my head hit the pillow.

NEXT MORNING

I woke up and looked at the time, 10:30. Damn I slept late! I turned to my other side to find Jess’ bed made and her gone. I wonder if she went with Niall already.

Jess’ P.O.V.

I woke up and saw Harry sleeping peacefully. I didn’t want to wake him so I got up and got dressed. Niall came around 10 to go to Nandos. That is where we are now. (Did not mean to have the WWA name hahaha!).

“So Jess you and Harry?” Niall said making me blush. “Hush Niall! You know you have to meet my best friend Nickie! You guys are so much a like!” I said. “Well when do I get to meet her?” “Umm well see I kind of invited her to come out here in a week or so. I just have to tell my dad. He knows how close we are.” I said.

Nickie honestly is my best friend she has dark brown hair and light brown eyes. Let me tell you she is gorgeous! I have always been jealous of her but she is such a great person. She has always been there for me and has been one to stick up for all her friends. Let’s just say I would be scared of her if we weren’t friends. She is amazing.

“Well let me know and I would for sure like to meet her.” Niall said. “Niall you have to meet her because duh she is going to be around me.” We both started laughing but Niall turned serious again. “Jess?” “Hmm?” Niall let out a huff and just asked, “Do you have feelings for Harry?” “I think he is cute but honestly I don’t know him well enough to actually say I like him.” I answered truthfully. “Plus I need time to trust a guy to date. I have been through a looo…” I soon stopped. I was staring at them… How could he bring her here…. “Jess are you ok?” Niall asked. “Y-y-yeah we just need to go. I need to call my dad. Please get me out of here. I need to go please Niall get us out of here.” I begged walking away calling my dad. They can’t see me. Why does he have her with him?

"D-Daddddy h-he h-has h-her w-with him."

Great my stutter is back! I thought it was just last night but now it is back.

Also, some true stuff in this chapter. Brendan happens to be my best guy friend! He was my first high school boyfriend and now we go to college together. We laugh about how we broke up to this day! He is really a great guy but happens to be more of a brother to me! The thing Paul says to Jess about protecting her is almost exactly what my dad said to me.
