Harry’s P.O.V.

Jess kept smiling the whole time we were up at Daniel’s Park. When Nickie told me about this place I wasn’t so sure. I now know to always listen to her because the smile my baby girl has right now is amazing.

“Harry?” The smiling girl interrupts my thoughts. “Yeah babe?” “Thank you for everything. I mean two months ago I didn’t think I would be here with you. Just thank you. I truly well…” She was going to say it but stopped. I guess I will take the plunge. “I love you Jess that is why I did this.” Shock and excitement crossed her face. “I-I love you too Harry.” Jess kissed me like she hasn’t kissed me before.

A cop pulling up and yelling at us interrupted us. “Hey you two kids what are you doing up here? The park is closing soon!” “Greg it’s me Jess. Don’t worry.” “Hey Jess how are you sweetie?” “I am good. Just on a date with my boyfriend. Harry this is officer Greg Greggs. Officer Greggs this is Harry.” “Nice to meet you son. Better watch her she is a wild one. Trust me I use to pull her out of class all the time because she was in trouble.” The officer and Jess just started laughing. “He’s kidding. Officer Greggs was stationed at my high school as the police officer but left at the end of my Junior year. Which by the way thanks for leaving us with an officer who was an ass. But he always had my back and was a close friend to my mom.” “Yeah we used to joke and pull Jess out of class saying she was in trouble but really it was funny just to see her face become pale and freaked out.” “That is awesome! Jess you are always scared when you think you are in trouble. Now I know I am not the only one who finds it fun to mess with you.” I said laughing with Officer Greggs. “Alright you two have a great night. I think the Rockies are playing so you should be able to see fireworks. Just don’t get in trouble now.” Jess nodded and hugged Officer Greggs goodbye.

“That man is awesome! Seriously he got me out of a lot of things.” Jess said getting comfy back on the hood of the truck. “Sounds like it. What was high school like for you anyways?” I was curious. I only heard bits and pieces. I just want to know what she was really like.

“You really want to know?” Jess asked with nervousness. “Yeah I do.” “Ok… Where to begin?” “Freshman year?” I joked. Jess just shoved me a little.

“Well Freshman year I moved to my high school when I was supposed to go to Mountain View. I was bullied by some girls there and didn’t like it. At the same time my mom worked right next door so she could drive me to school and all that jazz. First day was a little hard because I had friends from elementary school there but some hated my mom so it was a little hard. The year got better I made great friends. Nickie moved with me so it was easy but we only had one class together. That was English with one of the best teachers ever. I joined FCCLA which was a cool club and I made friends with the junior and senior girls. They were awesome and I am sad I don’t really keep in touch with them. I was the vice president of the group so it was even more amazing. I got to go to confrences and to state for a project I did. I was up for Homecoming Court but lost by one point to a girl that was a bitch. I was dumped at Homecoming by my boyfriend at the time but it was ok. The week after Homecoming I got swine flu so I got to stay home for a week. At state for FCCLA I didn’t make nationals but I became close with two other freshman that went with us officers. They were really cool girls. We also met boys from a small town up north and danced the whole night away. Sophomore year I met Aria, which I regret now. We became really close really fast. Parties and stuff like that almost every weekend. Nickie and I began fighting. That was the end for us. November came and the John situation happened. December came and one of the freshman that I became close with at FCCLA killed herself. I was devastated because I talked to her the day before she died. She was gorgeous. I always wonder what would have happened if she was still here. I went to DECA that year and won at districts but didn’t make it at state when I went. Still had a blast going. I quite FCCLA after B’s death. I became the boys basketball trainer and loved it. Started seeing one of the star senior players and we broke up. At the time from December to April Aria and I weren’t friends. Nickie and I became close again but that all changed when in April Aria started showing that letter to everyone. My boyfriend at the time dumped me because of it. That summer I spent it with Aria not Nickie. Again Nickie and I were fighting.” She stopped.
