Jackson's P.O.V
Karana shoved the door open with one hand and burst through it at top speed. The shelter looked the same way as we left it. Dried blood on the floor from where Vanessa beat the shit out of some idiotic guy in a sharp all black suit. Karana was already in the middle of the huge building standing in front of a wide table. She raised both of her hands and she swept it across the table, pushing all the things that were once on top of it, onto the floor.
She cursed loudly as one of the objects on the table had cut her finger and she waved it around impatiently to fling off the blood.
She seemed to slow down noticeably as she buried her head in her hands and inhaled deeply. I slowly jogged across the room to her, cautiously carrying Vanessa with both arms around her legs and back.
I set her on the table and turned to Karana. "What did you say she had, um.... A demon poison or something-" Before I finished Karana whipped around and glared hard at me. "Yes! I did say that Jackson. I just don't know if it's true of what I said and not to mention, I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!" She raised her voice so loud I wish my ears could have been able to shut off on command.
"Ok, ok... I am just as worried as you are. Vanessa is my girlfriend and my best friend." "Well she's my sister!" She said steadily but VERY matter-o-factly. I turned away from her face as it was starting to burn a deep red color and saw Vanessa's face again. It still looked calm at least from the last time she looked like she was having a seizure. I gently pushed the strands of stray dark hair from her lightly tan face, and glanced at Karana from the corner of my eye. She was full on staring at me.
"Jackson... I'm sorry. I just can't let Vanessa die after she practically went through hell to save me. I- I just can't." She finished and glanced away from my concerned and sympathetic look. Then suddenly her face lit up only a little and she fumbled at her pocket and drew out her phone.
She started to pace as I heard the phone ring. The person she had called picked up the phone on the third ring. Her shoulders visibly relaxed a little as she heard the other's voice flood through her ears. I had no idea who she might have been talking to but if it helped Vanessa it didn't matter. I seemed to zoom in and out of her conversation only picking up little bit by little bit.
"Yes, I said we need your help. She looks as if she is dying!" "Come right now we are near the government capitol house in Richfield." "Can and will you be able to help her?" Then I stopped listening. All this talk about can you save Vanessa, instead of you will save Vanessa was like knifes to my ears. All this time I always thought of only 'Vanessa is here' instead of maybe " what if Vanessa isn't here?'. This thought in my head burned like a large fire that destroyed any hope I had in my mind. Then as if on command, the shelter's door burst open and a person walked through.
Before saying anything, the person arrived next to Vanessa in a matter of seconds and looked over her face with panic. This person was largely familiar and had something that made them noticeable almost Immediatly. His golden hair stray into his eyes as he leaned over, the plain black t-shirt and leather black pants stretching a little over the table. With a belt wrapped around his waist that was full of many weapons. His eyes lit up with a bright gold color. Jace.
Of course she would call Jace. Jace basically knows all about demons and how the poison effects the body. "Has any of the seizures happened so far since the other time?" He asked Karana without looking from Vanessa's frail face. The lines of solid black color were spreading more and more on her face and slowly taking her beauty away.
Jace lifted Vi's chin up a little and looked at her slowing pulse. "Listen, this isn't anywhere near normal enough to be just demon poison." He spoke worryingly and he tore his gaze from Vanessa to look to Karana. "She is being poisoned by a demon, you have that right. But it is so strong that it must be from inside her!" He answered thoughtfully and backed away from Vanessa to the book shelf in the corner of the room.
"See it says right here..." He paused as he flipped through to the page he was looking for. "A level 10 demon possession and poisioning signs are when the body shakes violently and the poison or the dark lines spread along the body. She is apparently being possessed by a impressively powerful demon." He finished and stalked silently back over to the table.
"But how is that even possible Mr.Wise guy? There is no demon technically Inside her except for.." Karana paused with terror and looked at My face along with Jace's. "Glamadora." I answered everyone's unspoken question and stared off into space. Jace's steady tone was the thing that knocked me out of my reverie. "That is why it is a level 10. Because Glamadora is a ruler of hell. The most powerful of the demons. It all makes sense.. Except for the reason why she is doing that to Vanessa." But before anyone was to answer Vanessa began to violently shake again and a puff of smoke came from her stretched mouth. Then it turned to a girl with light purple armor and long straight dark brown hair. Glamadora.
She fitfully pushed the remaining smoke from her gorgeous armor like it was a disgusting rodent and straightened up with a sign of strength. "Finally! I have made my way out!" She cheered loudly her powerful voice booming throughout the large building. She flicked her all black eyes to my dark brown ones and her smile quickly turned to a thin hard line. "Let my brother go you human urchent!" She yelled striding for me.
She nearly got to me before Jace cut off her path by jumping in between us two. "Listen Glamadora! If you don't have permission from your keeper you can't come out from their body." He announced to her and pulled his long seraph blade from his belt. Glamadora laughed a loud laugh. "Your petty blade may work on idiotic demons but not on a ruler of hell, little nephilim." She grinned and stepped forward once again.
Karana's voice cut in before anything could be done. "What is the point of this monstrousity Glamadora? You are causing not only my sister pain but also everyone who cares for her pain as well!" She shouted obviously trying to keep her voice strong compared to Glamadora's. "I have spent almost my whole Immortal life inside of other's bodys and now I have had enough. This girl is tiring my twin and I out with countless fights, and I will stand for NO MORE!" She demanded and impatiently flicked the dirt from her glowing armor.
"Tiring the ruler of hell? You must be kidding us all Glamadora we will not be fooled with such stupid lies!" Jace called to her from his spot in the room and his face was set in a pissed off look. "I am not asking for understanding. Honestly I am not "asking" at all. I am saying I will not stay in Vanessa Jone's body any longer as she uses our strong powers for her personal pity fights." She stood looking down at her nails with wonder. No matter what you are god, demon, or even ruler of hell. Girls will always check to see if their nails are still good.
"So what if I say you can't do that. If we set you and your brother free, you will reek havoc on humanity and all that is on the world." Jace spoke like he knew exactly what she was thinking of doing after she was supposebly "free". "Humanity doesn't need my help in destroying it's self nephilim. It seems to already be going down hill. Sins everyday, from everyone, and some don't even notice they are sinning!" She paused and an idea seemed to shimmer in her dark eyes.
"Jace Herondale, Karana Jones, and Jackson Green. I challenge you all to a fight to the death. Let us see who comes out on top. The ruler of hell itself, or a warlock, a shadowhunter, and a specialized demon takeover mundane."
