"Wait why are you leaving?" I called at the golden angel that once was in his high perch but was slowly falling down to the hole. He stared with grimace in his golden eyes and shadows dancing across his face. Then, he smiled. "I will see you soon mortal. Don't forget me!" He demanded. "Because you might need me soon." He finished. Before I could ask why I would need him he flew quickly down into the dark hole and I saw a dim light come from the sky.

I jumped up and hit my head against something hard. "WHAT THE FUCK!" I announced rubbing my head. I quickly opened my eyes and saw that I had bumped into Jace's head. "Language. My family's around!" He laughed and nudged me lightly. I narrowed my eyes at his sarcasm and got on my feet. "Where's room 128?" I asked striding for the exit. I stumbled and fell on my face, scraping my eye against fallen cement from the ceiling. "Fuck I can't even move!" I mumbled in frustration and turned around to see Jace standing over me. "You know you still haven't regained all your blood right?" He smirked and leaned down to rub blood away from my eye. "Yeah I kinda found that out," I replied paying full attention to his constant sarcasm. "We need to get Karana. You promised you would help me find her!" I yelled and gasped at the edging pain at my heart. Even thinking about not finding Karana in time gave me pain like nothing before.

"Yeah got that. We need to find the room, and quick." He reached the door I was heading for before I stumbled and propped it open. He glanced at Alec and his smile disappeared. "Stay here. I need to help Vanessa find her sister. Alec, keep them safe. I know you won't let me down, parabati." He finished and waited for a reply. Alec simply nodded with a serious look and turned his attention back to his younger sister. Does that guy ever smile or crack a joke? I lifted myself off the ground and brushed off the dirt that tracked itself on my clothes. Then, I ran through the door, only Karana on my mind.

We paced the halls and rounded corners through the huge building. Jace and I got really tired of going in circles and had to try new turns, while making sure to pay attention to the numbers by the doors. "I am so freaking tired!" I groaned and slumped against a random door. "I know but we don't really have time for resting. You heard Helen your sister might be getting tortured!" He announced with a inspired tone. "Why do you care. You have your family already. You could just go home and forget I am even alive!" I whispered feeling hot tears at my eyes. He crossed the hallway and slumped down beside me, breathing hard from our long walk. "Because I know how hard it is to know you failed your family, friends, the world," He looked away from my concerned eyes then turned back to them.

"Hey Jace," I said looking ahead of me. "Yeah?" He replied obviously curious on what I was going to ask him. "You love Clary, don't you?" I asked to ashamed to look at his reaction to my stupid question. After a few moments of silence and a little hesitation, he spoke. "Yes, I do. She is the absolute love of my life. I can't live without her. She is my other half. My other soul. She has changed me for the better, and I will never stop loving her. Not even after we die." He finished smiling a little as I imagine he was thinking of her. "What's it like? Being in love. Just want to know." I questioned finally being able to look at him. "I think you already know. I can see the way you look at the guy, Jackson right? He seems to love you very much as well." He answered still keeping that famous smile on his face. I grinned and laughed a little. "What, what's so funny?" He asked very confused. "I guess your right. We do love each other. Maybe not like you and Clary, we won't ever be. But, we're some what in range. Right?" I answered than asked my own question and waited for his answer. He just nodded and widened his smile.

"Come on get up, let's get your sister." He announced, while getting up leaning on the door for support. "Where do you suppose we look? Upstairs?" I suggested and looked behind me at the door we were leaning on. The numbers looked very familiar. 128. I gasped and covered my mouth in surprise. Jace leaned over and read the room number after he saw my reaction. His eyes widened and he glanced to me. "We found it!" He exclamied. "Yeah and we were fucking leaning on it!" I face palmed and grabbed the handle quickly. I felt Jace's hand snatch mine before I turned it. "Be prepared for what you will see. Ok? It might be bad." He spoke and released his grip on my wrist. "Yeah, yeah. You should be a poet someday or something. Now come on let's go!" I replied to his warning and opened the door as he rolled his eyes at me.

A scream came from the room and an object hurtled through the air. Jace stepped in front of me quickly and caught it before it went any further. I glanced to him and smiled. He shrugged and smiled also. "I'm a shadowhunter. What did you expect?" He laughed and threw the knife on the ground. It hit the floor with a clatter and we continued on through the pitch black room. "I can't even see, I'm about to go find that bitch and tell her she needs new lights." I murmered to Jace and I felt him move with silent laughter at my side. His fire blazed up and so did mine, casting a red and golden light all around the room. I fell to my knees as I saw the most horrible thing ever. Karana was chained up on a chair, blood everywhere the eye could see. It was barely even noticeable that she was breathing. I let out a cry of vulnerability and dashed for my sister.

"KARANA!" I shouted and wrapped my arms around her bloody shoulders. I heard her whisper the slightest words so I leaned down to hear her. "Vanessa, it's a trap. I will heal my self but you won't make it out alive." She finished and her heart glowed very faintly with dark blue light to show that she was actually healing herself. Just then the door Jace and I came through shut harshly and a nasty sickening light came throughout the room. A man with the regular sharp suit on stepped behind Karana out of the shadows. "Step away from the prisoner!" He demanded holding out his long blade to his side. Just then another light stepped from the darkness. Helen. "You found her! Good for you child." She praised me and crossed the room at the same time. "You said I could have Karana back if I beat you!" I shouted my fire blazing higher and higher above me. I saw Karana smile and mouth the words 'I am proud of you' to me. My heart skipped a beat and I turned my head before sprouting tears.

"No, I said you would find Karana in room 128. You did, did you not?" She smiled and I could still see her pointy sharp teeth sticking out in the darkness. I grinded my teeth and snatched my weapon out of my hilt. "You are starting to get on my nerves," I scowled "Why can't I just leave?" I questioned knowing she would give me a stupid answer. "Because, you want to break out the most evil and not to mention the most powerful wizard in the magic world." She answered and I saw her face harden. "So, I can't let you do that!" She finished. "But why do you have to take Karana?" I asked again wishing she would just get to the point already. Then she spoke letting me hear every word with clarity. "Cause. She is assisting him in taking down the world."
