“Hey !” Vierne softly asked , tapping Yuki’s cheeks. “What do you see?”
But Yuki kept on cursing , smiling like a mad man .Vierne turned to the Councils and shook his head .
“No Response.”
“Great.” Clover said with sarcasm “Let’s wait a decade until he becomes sane again .”
“A great amount of mana are used for purification. What we’re doing right now is only the trial yet our mana is getting less and less as we speak .” Spades said . “Not all of us are like Diamond who regenerates his mana source so easily like he’s just breathing .”
“Okay , seriously .” Vierne raised his hand “Why don’t we gamble and proceed to the last phase of the trial?”
“We can’t take such a risk.” Caulfield , the royal of the demons , replied “I suggest we compile all the given data first and form every possible theory.”
“Well , indeed that is effective-“ Uruha said “But I fear that it will take too long to form all the theories that can be made . It is better to pick the most appropriate and realistic theory of what happened during the crime .”
Clover turned his head towards Diamond “What do you think?”
Diamond took a while to respond “Do whatever you will.”
Everyone’s head was filled with questions as to why Diamond , who has been loyal to the Gods since birth , would give such a cold response .
Does Diamond know what the Gods are planning? Vierne thought.
“Then let us hear what the defender knows before this court.”
Vierne got startled before he stood up.
“ Okay , so – The accused , Yuki , killed his own beloved sister , Yuka . This made the question ‘why’ pop out . Pierrot , the former joker from the Council of Cards and a guardian deity of Lucifer-sama , stated that Yuki was a loyal devotee to the Gods and even to their laws . After passing the information , Pierrot disappeared . It was then thought by Spades-dono as to what actually happened during the crime .” Vierne breathe after the long explanation , then continued on “It was realized that during the actual killing , the crime was not clearly seen and was only a conclusion that he killed her himself .”
“And how do you explain the knife he held?”
“That.” Vierne pointed out . “Will explain my theory .”
“Which is?”
“Normally , a human cannot alter a human’s memory . So the theory that a supernatural being might be involved arises.” Vierne explained .
“What…” Seville muttered “ So you’re suspecting your own kind? Is that it?”
“Seville-dono.” Vierne slightly shook his head “It is only my theory that it might either be ,” Vierne stopped to give emphasis .
“A demon . An angel . Maybe even both .”
Caulfield went pale when he heard Vierne’s assumption .
“We’re not really going anywhere with your suspicion” Seville said .
“That doesn’t end my explanation yet .” Vierne replied “As to the part about him being religious – it makes my ears perk up. Just why would a religious man kill?”
“That really does makes one think.” Spades said.
“That is right .” Vierne gave a nod “And the best way to explain why is the phrase ‘a sin for a - .”
