Darkness stood still. I had to make her go to sleep, she has no idea what awaits her. Her combat mode isn't turned on, maybe it's because she's a child at heart, thinking that there's no threat although she is cautious it is never enough. The creature finally showed itself, a shadow slave, I can see its gold leash. The creature snarled at me as if I was in its territory, the dog like monster aimed for my neck but I avoided him, not as fast as I wanted it to be. It watched my every move, quite the fighter is all I can say. It lunged again this time I grabbed its neck and kicked its side, it didn't seem to feel pain. This was no ordinary slave warrior. I jumped on the top of the locker and it followed me, it was fast and I try to evade those sharp claws. Luckily there was the broomstick my host left for me, as he lunged again I hit it on the head, he landed on its head. It was still alive and moving but I've injured it. I broke the broomsticks's handles which revealed the sharp edge and turned to the injured slave. I had to kill it, I'm a fallen warrior. As I stand on top of the injured slave I braced myself, but then my thoughts were scrambled making me stumble. She didn't want to kill it, the very creature who wanted to kill her. What a foolish girl.

I woke up, my head was spinning. I stood up and saw a creature sleeping on my lap, I gasped but didn't utter a word. It's leash was broken and it looked a sleeping dog

You stopped me from killing it...

Yes I did...

I'm not sure if we understand each other...

You didn't need to kill it...

You're supposed to be a Levute

I don't care...

I heard her laugh and there was silence. Talking inside my head seemed a bit normal these days.

I looked outside and it seems that everyone was already home. I slowly left the sleeping creature and went away. My arm was scratched pretty badly but to my surprised it healed right away.

Lukas.

I watched her recover as she stepped outside school. She was getting better, this girl, yet she seemed different from the past. I told her lies, but she didn't seem to see through me not like before. Was she really her? It doesn't seem possible. I sighed, I only had a memory of her from a hundred years back, a fierce warrior who was ruthless. But I was the only one who knew her vulnerable side, I was the only one to see her cry and laugh. But we couldn't always see each other, it was forbidden. Very forbidden.

"Tell me Lukas" she'd say as she lays her head on my chest "When will it end? This war?"

"Sometimes, we need to accept things the way they are."

"I will not. There must be a way Lukas...I am afflicted."

her misty blue eyes looked so sad, a beautiful creature was in my arms and that's what mattered.

May.

I walked home as usual, this time I made sure to be more careful especially when a lot of supernatural things are after me. Not fun. Life will never be ordinary ever again. My mother was on the phone talking to one of our relatives she saw me and smiled

"Hey honey, how was your day?"

"I got attacked" I blurted

"Oh?" She replies casually "How did it end"

Before I could reply my thoughts clouded me as if my words weren't my own. I felt my expression change

"It was perfect" I grinned and went upstairs

What a decent conversation.

How dare you manipulate my actions!

I had to, if you tell her the truth she will be disappointed....

She's not your mother!

She's both our mother....

I noticed her voice was sad, I didn't want to fight with the other person inside my head. It was crazy.

Lukas

I'm not sure if I wanted to be her friend, when I see her I feel her. Her scent is the same but just softer as if she has this whole new persona. I was baffled by her new constricted way of thinking as if I was talking to a new whole being that had copied her physically. To be honest, it's straining.

"Are you okay?" my thoughts were disrupted by Janet, a new girlfriend I've acquired. Yes I'm trying to move on. She places her hand on mine, I felt nothing

"I'm fine" I grinned, I planted a kiss on her forehead and drifted to sleep.

Nuriel dreams.

"Hurry up Nuriel!" I heard Elianna's voice "They're gaining on us" I turned my back and saw a bunch of vampire neophytes running. Elianna snapped off a big branch then set it ablaze with her ability to conjure fire. And threw it to me

"Let them have it " she smiled

I returned the smile and with all my might I threw the fire towards them. We both watched all of them explode to pieces. I glanced at Elianna who said nothing, but her eyes glowing bright

"You seem upset" I remarked

"Assumptions will get you nowhere" she snapped "Shut it"

I chuckled "I only judge what I observe not assume"

then she laughed heartily "Nuriel"

"Yes your grace?"

"Promise me something "

"As long as I'm capable"

Her eyes turned dim as he turned to me "Do what you must do without hesitation especially when you know it's right"

Before I could reply, I felt cold on my face making me open my eyes, I thought I saw Elianna but I realized it was only May.

"So this is where you hang" she says while jumping up the branches, she almost slipped almost giving me a heart attack. She seemed startled too as I grabbed her hand to let her balance

"You thick headed skull brain!" I snapped "Although you are a Levute you must be aware of your surroundings as well, especially in high places"

she looked appalled but didn't utter a word which surprised me

"What?" I asked unapologetically

"Nothing. I just felt that I've heard that phrase before"

"Oh do you?"

she shrugs and yawns "Beats me."

I watched May gaze at the sunset, her expression relaxed and then she smiled. It was that beauty that done wonders in our era, but she is not Elianna, she was not my Ally and friend that I've watched over.

"Why do you stare so much?" she asks while she accompanies me

"You remind me of an old friend" I replied

"Oh? Where is he?"

"She's a woman"

"A girlfriend?"

I almost spilled my drink. Idiot.

"No, she is my ally, a partner. Partners with the same mission cannot...be"

"Ok Romeo" she mocks "So where is this partner of yours?"

I shrugged and sighed "She jumped off a cliff and was never to be found"

The memory of her leaving the clan and jumping off the cliff was still fresh in my mind "I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen. She hated being a facade. She hated this life...she wanted to be free"

May stood there and gave me a sad wistful look, her expression was genuine something that Elianna would have never shown to me. Being a warrior taught us to be cold, ruthless and keen that overpower our senses and which resulted our emotional disability. We were numb, we felt not remorse, maybe this is the reason why Elianna left...she left to feel again.

"I think...she did the right thing, I would've done that too" she pats my shoulder gently " Let's train"
