The Chase

When we met, you pursued me like fire

Running from the past, I was running from chance

The chance of heartbreak, the fading into nothing

But the flames caught up and you trapped me inside.

So then the scared little girl fell in love

Safety in solitude becomes futile

When someone builds you up,

And fixes all the bleeding wounds.

A heart ripped into pieces made whole

Who knew three words would change the world

So the fires grew in a glorious fury

And the flames consumed every untouched part.

The fire fed by unmatched passion grew,

But flames fade, flames die

And just as your flames chased me

They began to chase another

When playing with fire someone always gets burned

But no one said being filled of fire to have it taken away was worse
