I rushed over to the nearest mirror and examined my neck. She was right.
On both sides of my neck we now forming tiny red-blue bruises. Oh my gosh how am I going to cover these up. Then I looked over the rest of my body. Two or three of them were on my exposed collarbones, too.
"Ugh!" How was I going to cover these up in time? I quickly rushed back into the Report room and grabbed a makeup person.
"Listen, I need you to be quick. Cover up these without getting it on my dress. Okay?" She only nodded her head and began working. When she pulled back and said she was done I checked the mirror. They were all gone, thank God.
I quickly ran over to my spot and gave Queen Amberley a thumbs up. She only nodded.
"Finally, Lady America. Looks like you've decided to join us finally," said Gavril. He had a smirk play on his lips and I know the Queen filled him in and what had been going on in the hall. I just gave him a smirk and turned my head to Maxon. He was staring and me with his face propped up on one hand and the other in his lap. I realized his tie was slightly loosened and his hair still a little messy. I got up and walked over to him and while I was doing so I heard someone say number behind me. I ignored them and kept walking. When I reached my destination, Maxon looked at me with his big chocolaty brown eyes.
"How may I help you, my pet?" I knew people were probably watching but I didn't care. It was just me and him, only us in the world.
"Your tie is crooked. And your hair is still a mess. I came to fix it." I straightened out his tie as I was talking and the I started working on his hair. When I was done with it it looked a little better, but not by much. His hair was long than I remember. A lot longer.
"You know, kind sir, you need a haircut. I can't do much with this mop." He smirked at me and I blushed.
"Well I'll have to get on that soon, my dear." I gave him a warning look and he just smiled.
"Don't even start." As I was about to leave, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to him.
"I don't think I can just let you leave without getting a kiss, m'lady." He was cupping my face in his hands and his touch electrified me. I stood up on my tip toes and pecked his lips once, but when I tried to leave his hand pulled me back and he pressed his lips to mine. The kiss was soft yet passionate and I fell in love with him all over again. When I pulled back his eyes blared into mine and I heard applause all around us. I now realized that the person counting behind me was the camera man counting down to rolling.
I turned out of his grasp and realized the whole studio was applauding even Amberley. Kriss was not though, and when we made eye contact, she fled out of the room.
"So what. I have you," Maxon whispered into my ear. I smiled.
"My, my, my Maxon! That was some kiss!" Gavril exclaimed into his microphone. Maxon chuckled.
"Thank you, Gavril, but I think all the praise goes to Miss. America Singer." He started clapping behind me until others followed.
"Yes indeed. Lady America you look ravishing tonight!" I blushed and the people in the crowd started murmuring. "That is a very lovely dress you have on, did your maids make it?"
"Yes, Gavril, they did. They are a very talented group of young ladies." He chuckled.
"Splendid! Now, Maxon, I believe you have a certain announcement you need to make?" Here goes nothing.
"Why, yes sir, I do," he said matter-of-factly. He turned towards me and got on one knee. The crowed gasped.
"America Singer, you are the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. You are the one that I want to wake up to in the mornings, the one I want to fall asleep with at night. You are the one I want to grow old with. You are The One for me. So please do me the great, great honor of becoming my wife, my princess and my queen?" Tears were streaming down my face once more and they were running down Maxon's as well.
"Yes! Yes! One million times yes! I love you so much!" He sprang up and I jumped into his arms as he twirled me around, kissing every inch of my face.
"I love you so, so much, America. Thank you so much." He pulled back and kissed me on the lips. I broke away first.
"I love you too and thank you for being everything I've ever wanted."
As Gavril signed off the show, the National Anthem of Illea played behind us and the advisors started swarming us. They started asking us questions about wars, treaty's and things I didn't even know about. After the sixth advisor came up asking us about the rebels, we both looked at each other and bolted out of the room, down the halls and to his, no, our room.
