Love. Love is the only thing I feel now. No pain, no sadness, no anger. Just love. Even though we didn't go "all the way" last night, I still felt the love radiating off of Maxon.
"America? Darling are you alright?" Maxon was sitting at his office desk in his big brown leather chair. I looked up at him with assuring eyes.
"Yes, Maxon. I'm just think about how much I love you." He looked up from the papers that he was reviewing and smiled a toothy grin at me.
"I love you, too, my dear." I wasn't even going to try and "fight" with him. I thought about the future. What the hell was going to happen? Maxon and I were going to get married obviously, but what about Amberley and Clarkson? Would they get a divorce? Then the present came to mind. It feels like
I haven't seen my family for decades. Don't think about that now, I told myself. I got up and went to Maxon's desk. I sat on the corner and grabbed the paper he was reading. It was a report about a mass burn across Carolina. My breath hitched in my throat and I grabbed the edge of the desk.
"America? Are you okay? What's wrong? Oh my... did you not know? Did you forget? Holy shit you forgot! Aspen! Get in here!" I heard someone burst through the door, and assumed it was Aspen. I heard their voices but not well enough to make out what they were saying. Everything was just a mumble of the words they were saying. It felt as if I was underwater, but I could still move. I absentmindedly got up off the desk and went to the couch. I laid my head back and dozed off, until I couldn't hear anything, couldn't see anything and couldn't feel anything. Until I was completely gone, completely peaceful.

When I came to I was in a white room with machines all around me and that smelled of antiseptics. The lights were too bright for my liking, so bright that my eyes were beginning to throb against my skull.
"M...ma..ax...on?" My voice sounded like I smoked four packs a day. Great. How was I supposed to get anyone's attention now?
I sat my head back in defeat and let sleep take me once more.3 hours later...
"...My Lady. My Lady please wake up you are needed in the Prince's room right away." My eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the new light. Lucy's face was hovering over mine and her small delicate hands were the ones shaking me from my deep sleep.
"Wha... what happened? The last time I woke up I was in a hospital room." My voice was scratchy and it felt like sandpaper was being rubbed against my vocal cords.
"The prince will explain everything to you, my lady." I sat up in my bed and rubbed my eyes. What's going on? That last thing I remember was when I was in Maxon's office and I grabbed the paper...
The paper!
I shot out of bed and ran to the door and out of my room. I heard Lucy calling behind me but I ignored her. I ran down the halls to Maxon's room on the third floor, and when I finally got the the door was open. He was laying on his bed with his hair a mess and reading a book. I ran into the room.
"Maxon please tell me they're alive. Please tell me that the fire didn't burn down my home and kill my family. Please tell me they're okay?"
"I'm sorry. They're not."
