The Truth

It's been a few months since the incident in the woods. Nothing interesting happened, except Justin's birthday and a few quidditch matches. I was going home tomorrow for the Christmas holidays. I can't wait to see my parents. I'm saying goodbye to all my friends in the hall.
"Have a nice Christmas. I'm sending your present by owl" says Teresita as she hugs me.
"I was actually going to say the exact same words as Teresita" laughs Rose as she hugs me.
"And I was going to say the same to you two" I reply.
"Well I was going to say, Merry Christmas and a happy new year"  says Ren walking up behind us.
"Same to you" I say to him as I hug him. He is such an awkward hugger. He stands there stiff as if I have cooties.
'Boys'  I think to myself.
"Have you seen Justin" I ask. Ren's face drops.
"Yeah he's over there" he says pointing to bunch of Slytherins. I walk over to them. The girls stop giggling and glare at me. The boys stop messing around and just stare at me as if I'm another species. It occurs to me that most people in the school don't know that me and Justin are going out. Well they're about to find out. I walk over to Justin. He definitely doesn't care if people know, because he hugs me.
"Have a nice Christmas" he whispers in my ear.
"You too" I whisper back. When we let go of each other I look at the other Slytherins. The girls look disgusted and the boys look flabbergasted.
"Is this first year... this Huffledor" she spat the word like it was poison "the reason you won't go out with me!" Screeches a second year Slytherin girl.
"No... I just like you" replies Justin calmly as he takes my hand and guides me away from everyone.
"Well, your friends don't like me" I say
"So. I don't even call most of those people my friends" he says before he kisses me.
"See you after the holidays" I say
"You'll be expecting an owl delivery from me"
"Same to you" he says, and then I go to collect my bag from the train. When I get back all my friends have left. I see my parents standing around looking for me. I'm really happy to see them. I have been too busy to realise how much I missed them. I hug both of them at the same time.
"How have you been getting on" asked my Dad.
"Really good" I reply.
"Made any friends?" Asked Mom
"Yeah. Three really close ones, well kinda four. I tell you about them later" I reply. When I finally get home from the train station, I run around the house. It feels great to be home. I settle in my room. Simba is sleeping on my pillow as I sit at my desk writing Christmas cards to my friends. I'm buying their presents tomorrow. When I go downstairs my Mom is cooking dinner and my Dad is asleep on the couch in the living room.
"So, tell me about your friends and your school." Says my mom.
"Well there's different school houses, and this talking hat puts you in one. There's Ravenclaw for the wise and smart. Slytherin for the ambitious and determined, they're not usually very nice people. Hufflepuff for the kind and loyal and Gryffindor for the brave." I explain.
"What were you put into?"
"Well the hat couldn't decide between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. So for this year I'm in both, and at the end of the year I will be sorted again"
"I see, and tell me about your friends"
"Well there's Rose. She's a Ravenclaw. Then there's Ren. He is a Gryffindor. Then there's Teresita. She's a Hufflepuff. She's a year younger then me. You got my letter about why I started older, didn't you?"
"I did"
"Yeah, well that's why she's younger. Because that didn't happen to her. She's probably my best friend, even though she is a bit annoying."
"What about your fourth friend?"
"Huh?"
"At the train station you said you made a fourth friend"
"Oh, yeah, um Justin. He's a Slytherin"
"I thought you said Slytherins were mean"
"Yeah, but he's not"
"I see". Is all she says. I begin deciding in my head if I should tell her about me and Justin. I mean, I know it's not something a teenage girl usually tells her mom, but I have a close relationship with my mom. I tell her everything. After a big long debate in my head, I decided to hint that we are together. Just to see how she will react.
"You know Justin's really nice, and good looking"
"Is he now. Why are you telling me that?"
"I just am."
"You like him don't you". Says my mom casually. How can she always see right through me? It's amazing and scary.
"Yeah, I do like him, and um... he likes me" I say. My Mom slowly turns to face me.
"Really? Are you telling me that you two are going out"
"Uh, yeah"
"That's nice". I let out a sigh of relief. I had no idea how she would react.
"Don't tell your Dad about him" says My Mom. "And you should invite him down during the summer, but tell your Dad he is just a friend."
"Ok, but don't embarrass me"
"Since when have you got embarrassed easily?"
"I don't, but still"
"Alright". After dinner I'm so tiered and I go to bed. I sleep soundly knowing my Mom is ok with Justin.
