It was late in the night and I was safely snug in my bed. I couldn't sleep though. I lay awake staring at the ceiling. A big fluff ball jumps onto my lap. It was Simba. He rubbed his head against my arm and purred. He jumped onto the window sill and looked at me teasingly. I got up, shivering as my feet touched the cold ground. I tip toed over to the window and stared out into the night. Simba looked at me then outside. Suddenly I heard the screech of a small animal coming from the forest. I quickly grabbed my coat and began to make my way outside to Professor Hagrid's hut, with Simba at my side. I looked at my strange cat with wonder. How did he know something was going to happen. I hear more screeches coming from the forest and I start to run. I bang my fist on Professor Hagrid's hut. A light shines through the window and a dog begins to bark. I look down at Simba, but the barking did not scare him. I tried to shoo him away, because I wasn't sure how Fang would react to a cat. The door opened and I braced myself for the slobber of the dog. Fang jumped up on me, covering me in his drool.
"Down boy" booms Hagrid's voice, and Fang gets off me and stands by Hagrid's side. Fang looks down at Simba and gives him a respectful look. "Weird, usually hates cats" say Hagrid. When Hagrid sees me he looks angry. "What are ya doin out of bed?"
"I heard screeches coming from the forest" I reply confidently.
"Show me" is all he says. We walk in silence into the forest. I hear more screeches. Something furry rubs off my leg and I look down expecting to Simba, but instead I see a ball off fluff laying limp on the ground. Hagrid bends down to inspect it.
"Dead as doornail" he says.
"What is it sir?"
"A niffler, you'll be learning about 'em soon". I'm suddenly aware of my surroundings and I'm horrified to see that there is dead nifflers all over the place. "Looks like a hive of 'em were attacked" says Hagrid. We walk around trying to find any survivors. I bend down to inspect one when Hagrid looks up horrified.
"Move out the way!" He shouts, aiming his crossbow. I turn my head and see a wild animal behind me. I quickly jump to the side and Hagrid releases his arrow. It hits it in the paw and it whimpers, but it's only damaging enough to distract it for a minute. Hagrid grabs my hand and we begin to run. I look behind me trying see if I can see Simba, but he's not there. I can feel tears pricking my eyes. I know Simba is no match for that beast, but I try to think positive that he hid and is safe. We finally reach the edge of the forest and we stop, trying to catch our breath.
"You are to get back to yere room and go to bed. I'll alert Professor McGonagal in the morning" says Hagrid. I nod obediently and turn to walk away. The tears begin to roll down my cheek as I think of Simba. When I get back to my room I flop onto the bed and the water works start. I cry my heart out for a good 5 minutes. I hear a noise and look up. Something is scratching at the window. I get of my bed, wiping away my tears and walk over to the window. My heart stops. My eyes must be deceiving me. I let out a yelp of joy, almost waking everyone up. Simba is sitting on the windowsill looking up at me like nothing is wrong. I let him in, pick him up and hug him.
"You stupid cat. You scared me" I whisper into his fur. I curl up in bed hugging my beloved cat the whole time.
