Nothing exciting happened over the next week, before my birthday. Which is a good thing because I had enough excitement for a while. When I woke up on my birthday I was greeted by the friendly faces of Teresita and Simba.
" Good morning birthday girl!" Exclaimed Teresita, and she handed me a brightly wrapped parcel.
"You didn't have to get me anything" I say while opening it. It was a scarf. Half of it had the Hufflepuff colours and the other half had Gryffindor. I hug Teresita and thank her. Simba rubbed against me and purred. Teresita and I got dressed and headed down to the kitchen. As soon as we walked in the doors the house elves held up a big cake and began to sing (very badly) happy birthday. I kneel down and hug the closest one.
"Thanks guys. How did you know?" I asked.
"It was as Miss Rose and Miss Teresita and Master Ren's idea" one replied. I sit down with my friends. Rose handed me a neatly wrapped parcel. It was a frame with a picture of us all. We were all smiling and waving. Yep. It was as moving picture. Apparently that's normal for magical beings. Ren gave me a messily wrapped parcel. It was chocolate frogs. I thanked them all and hugged them. We went to the great hall to get our owl post. I got a gift from my parents. It was snow globe. I love snow globes. I love the way there's a tiny world inside it and I can make it snow. Inside this snow globe they was a a girl sitting on a bench holding a wand. My first class that day was care if magical creatures. As I was leaving Hagrid handed me an envelope.
"Heard it was yer birthday day" he said. I opened the envelope and bouquet of feathers fell to the ground.
"I started collecting the lose feathers off the winged horse and when Roughclaw found out he insisted I took some if his too."
"Thanks sir. How is the Winged horse getting on? And the baby hippogriff?"
"Not bad. Gonna release the horse soon".
"That's good. Bye"
"Bye".
When all my classes were done I was sitting in the library finishing an essay I had to write for history of magic. Justin came up beside me and sat down.
" Wanna go to the meadow?" He
Asked
"I'd love to, but I'm kinda busy"
"Come on, its your birthday" and he smiled at me his infamous charming smile. How could I say no?
"Ok, but not for long"
"Yes" and he guides me towards the meadow.
"Sorry I didn't get you a present" he says
"I didn't expect one"
"I just didn't know what to get you"
"It's grand"
"Grand? Is that an Irish thing?"
"Sorta"
"Can I tell you something?"
"Sure".
He twiddles with his thumbs before continuing.
"I like you"
"I like you too"
"I mean, I really like you"
"Oh. I really like you too" suddenly he's leaning in. My heart was thumping. I never kissed anyone before. I wonder if he ever kissed anyone. I let my mind relax. I over think things too much. His lips touch mine and that lasted for about 3 seconds. Short, sweet and simple, yet it made me a feeling of happiness swell up inside me.
"We better get back. It's almost ten o' clock" I say. He nods and we walk back to the castle in silence. He walks with me to the door of my dormitory.
"Goodnight" he says, and for a moment I think he is about to lean in for another kiss, but a cough behind us makes us jump.
"Oh. Hi Teresita" I say
"Where have you been?" She questioned.
"I was hanging out with Justin"
"Doing what?"
"Just talking"
"Hmmm, sure" she says, but I can she is smiling. "Goodnight Justin" she say to him.
"Goodnight" he says smiling his charming smile.
"Thanks, Mom" I say sarcastically to Teresita.
"Haha. So where were you two"
"Does that matter?"
"Well.."
"Goodnight Teresita." I say smiling. I Get ready for bed and flop down and fall asleep quickly. I had a really good birthday.
