Chapter 11

Kayla's legs were getting tired. They'd been walking from one room to another with Luca explaining the story of each and the changes made since the original structure was built. She already lost count of how many rooms they have been into. She stopped counting when she reached 20.

She badly wants to sit down and rest for a while but she was loathed to voice it out to Luca who seemed to be high on energy this morning.

They were on the 2nd floor and was about to leave the east wing when his cellphone rung. She paused near the railing overlooking the garden giving him time to take the call. She cannot understand the word of it as he spoke in Greek to whoever was at the other line.

"Baby, can you give me 5 minutes? I just have to make a very important call." She smiled at him and nodded. He went inside one of the rooms down the hall. He could just have made the call right here, she thought. After all, she doesn't understand Greek. But she promised herself she'd learn. It's just so frustrating to not know what the people around her were talking about.

She looked back at the garden below. It's filled with rows of different flowers. Luca told her earlier that his mom personally helped. She breathed in the clean and flower-scented air.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" A baritone voice spoke behind her. She swiftly turned her body around and gasped. Behold is an adonis...no, a man...an adonis of a man. "Get a hold of yourself, Kayla," she silently told herself. She counted her breathing to calm herself.

Once she has calmed down, well, somewhat~ she looked at him from head to toe. He looked like a Greek god, the type which she only read in books. He's probably taller than Luca but equally handsome, if not more.

He watched her looked him over and waited until her eyes were back to his face. "See something you like?" He asked smirking.

That made her snapped back to present. " And sadly, more arrogant," she silently mused.

She turned back to the railing and looked down on the garden. "Yes, the garden is so beautiful, the like I haven't seen before."

He walked to the railing and stopped beside her. She watched him from the corners of her eyes. "I thought so, too... before." He turned to her with a serious expression on his face and said, "Until now." He stared at her for a few seconds and continued, "Definitely more beautiful than the garden below."

She was rendered speechless at the apparent meaning of his words. He smiled at her and extended his hand, "I'm...."

"Demetrius!" Luca finished with a slight edge in his voice which effectively cut off what the Greek god was saying. He swiftly walked to her side. She felt his arm wrapped around her waist embracing her tight.

"What are you doing here?" He asked narrowing his eyes on him while he kissed her temple.

"I have a meeting with theios [uncle] Geo in a little while. But I heard that you're back from London. I just wanted to check on you before seeing theios," he answered, still staring at the now silent Kayla. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" He smirked.

She heard Luca groaned and sighed. "This is my fiancée, Michaela Rodriguez," he said emphasizing the word "my" to Demetrius' amusement. He lifted her chin with his finger and looked into her eyes. "Baby, this is my cousin, Demetrius Gallo."

"Gallo?" She asked. "Yes. His mother, Irena is my father's sister and only sibling at that."

"Pleased to meet you, Demetrius. I'm Kayla," she said extending her right hand which was firmly gripped by him.
