Chapter 23
"If you want to save yourself, you need to start talking now." Luca stared at Damien across the table. He wanted to hurt him for his betrayal really bad. But he wouldn't dare lift a finger to this man especially when Kayla was around. He wasn't worth a cent.
Damien was shaking. He was on cloud 9 when he left Demetrius' apartment. Getting picked up by these men was far from his mind. One minute he was getting gas, the next minute someone else was in the driver's seat and another had subtly deposited him to the backseat.
He promised Demetrius he would not say anything and would definitely not involve him when confronted. But when you were facing two of the formidable Conti's, not to mention six other guys he doesn't know, one would surely cower. But he knew Demetrius was more frightening. He saw, rather helped him did what he did and he was not referring to the stocks.
"What do you want to know?" He fearfully asked.
"Everything," the older Conti calmly replied.
He was surrounded. And although they looked intimidating, they had done nothing to physically hurt him. Not yet, at least. But he knew Demetrius was capable of not only bodily injury but also of killing.
"You need to decide which side you're on," Luca said sensing Damien's indecisiveness.
"You understand that we don't actually need you, right? We will have the complete report on the truth whether you participate or not," Tomas informed him.
"Well, I guess we need to go, Papa," Luca pushed in. "I don't want to waste our time here."
"It was me!" He exclaimed.
"And?" prompted Luca with a raised brow. Damien was shaking. He didn't know what to do.
"You were not telling us anything new and substantial." Luca turned for the door.
"Demetrius paid me!" Damien cried. "He said he would tell my wife about my sexual exploits and she would drag me to the cleaners. I would end up in the streets."
"Why don't you start from the beginning?" Luca asked and sat down on one of the chairs.
Damien told them how Demetrius had approached him and laid out his plan to take over their business empire.
"It started when Marko was managing the company," Damien added.
"Marko?" Luca quietly asked, dread spreading through his body. "Is Demetrius involved in Marko's accident? Tell me honestly now if you value your life."
"Yes," was Damien's shaky reply.
"What about Carlos' and Isabella's?" Luca was beyond angry now.
He had done it. He overshared and involved not only Demetrius but also the club. Most of the members are powerful people. There's not going to be any comeback from this.
"What club?" prompted Luca but Damien just stared at the ground and kept his mouth shut. He's dead either way so he'd rather not say anything else.
"Check your email, Luca," Tomas asked him. "I've sent you the information about it earlier.
He pulled out his phone and read the email sent by Tomas. He felt it vibrated earlier but he was busy attending to Kayla and he forgot all about it when they continued the drive to this warehouse.
He was shocked, to say the least. He did not know any of this and he doubted his father and mother knew, too. He looked at James who only nodded his head. He had already read this information.
