I stand in the shower looking up towards the ceiling as I sigh, thinking about what Jason told me. How Makenna forced him into his relationship with her. I wonder what she'd do if that slipped out. Not that I'm going to tell anyone, just hypothetically. A relationship like that won't last that long anyway because one person is happy while the other isn't, that never lasts long at all.
"Paige I'm home!" My mother's voice rings through the house, causing me to want to get out of the shower. My mom and I never really spend a lot of time together since we moved or since Jameson (her boyfriend) came into the picture.
Turning off the shower, I grab my towel, drying every part of me, then getting into a purple pajama shirt and sweatpants, something comfortable after wearing annoying clothes all day to impress someone out there.
I dash out into the secluded hallway and then into the actual house. We share a home with my mom's boyfriend, Jameson. Jameson has two daughters called Katherine and Sam. Weird name for a girl I know, but, I never ask because I know my mom will get mad at me.
I see my mother and smile. She has bright, blonde hair like I do. She also has brown eyes, pale skin, and a baby bump. Yeah, we are expecting a baby boy from Jameson.
I smile, excited to talk to my mom before everyone else gets here, "Hey mom," I say bringing her attention to me for about a second and then back to whatever she's doing. "How was your day?" I ask her as she dashes out of the kitchen in a rush, making me wonder what she's doing.
"It was good Paige." She says in her usual annoyed tone as she goes into her bedroom and shuts the door without asking me a question. I guess that was a good conversation, better than the last one we had. I said 'hi,' and she said 'hello,' and that was it.
Don't ask me about my day mom. Just ignore me as usual. Please, I beg you. Please, ignore me and walk away. I'm going through my first boy problem, and you're not even there to help me out. I mean, you never are, so what did I expect?
She comes out of her room and starts to get the oven and stove ready for dinner.
I sigh, getting tears about my mom as everyone else's mom seems to love them so much that they want to have a real conversation with them. Everyone at my school loves their mom, and they never have a problem with them. They tell their mom all their secrets, and their mom gives them some advice, and then they live happily ever after. Not me, my mom could care less about me and my day.
"Paige, go get cleaned up, what's wrong with you?" She asks as I look at her a little offended and then look down to what I am wearing. "Get real clothes on, that's unacceptable." She says not even looking to me. I'm wearing pajamas in my own home, how's that not acceptable? Of course, I don't say anything but:
"O-o-okay," I stammer as I walk out of the kitchen and back into the secluded hallway and to the right into my room, getting on some more uncomfortable clothes and then blow drying my hair so it won't look like I'm a disgrace anymore. I look at my makeup, wondering if I should put it back on. Mom would probably like that, I probably should so I won't embarrass her with my ugliness.
