I make it to the dance, being dropped off by my mom who wishes me luck. I get out of the Yukon and then walking into the dance, showing the Deans my invitation. I then walk into the dance. It's very dark, and all the blinds are closed. The cafeteria is being used as the dance hall as it looks weird that all the tables are gone and replaced with nothing but streamers and sparkly things hanging from the ceiling.
I look around, seeing that a lot of people are staring at my dark red, sparkly dress with my matching red shoes. My makeup is professionally done by a spa, making me look a lot better than I would if I did it myself.
My eye is then caught on Jacob. Since I can't find Jason, I'm going to be able to find him through Jacob. Walking over to him, he looks at me stunned.
"You look beautiful tonight," he says, making me blush lightly as I never imagined anyone here telling me that, not even Jason.
"Thanks, Jason told me he's here, what's going on?" I ask, making him shrug.
"He's throwing up in the bathroom, it's probably that stomach bug that's going around, his mom is already on her way," Jacob says, pointing at the boys' room that's surrounded by teachers, letting me know there's no way that I can get in there now.
"That's not good," I reply, feeling like this night just got a lot worse.
"You want to dance with me once he leaves?" Jacob asks, flirting with me. Jason cheated on me, what's wrong with me dancing with Jacob? I need to take some kind of risks in my life.
"Yeah, I'd like that," I say, smiling as he smiles back.
...
Jason left, and I gave him a hug before he got in his mom's car, taking a bucket from the school in case he continued to throw up.
Once a slow dance came on, Jacob held his hand out to me, and I smiled, looking down slightly, blushing at the thought of slow dancing with a boy, I've never had any of this happen to me before, this is great. I take his hand, and we went onto the floor, dancing together. My head on his chest as his hand are on my waist and mine are wrapped around his neck.
...
Even without Jason, the dance was enjoyable, and Jacob let me know if Jason and I ever went through anything, he'd be there for me and I ever become single he 'll sweep me away.
I lay in bed, smiling up at the ceiling, thankful that my night went so well.
My mom then pops her head in, curious about me for once.
"How'd it go?" She asks, surprising me that she's even interested in me.
"It went great, Jason went home sick, but Jacob took over and slow danced with me," I admit, still smiling at the ceiling with happiness. Jason may not have been there, but tonight was one of the best nights of my life.
"That's nice honey," mom says, then leaving the room, confusing me as I thought she was going to give me a speech or something like that to let me know that she respects me as a woman now. I was also hoping that she'd explain to me why she's been being a bitch lately, letting me know that she does love me even though it never seems like it anymore.
Oh well, she's not ruining my perfect night.
