This past week has been hard. Really, life is hard. But, you get through it, and you get over things. Like I have to get over Jason. I have to. There's no reason to string me along for nothing but disaster.
"Jason, I'm not good enough for you, and I never will be. I can't be yours because then this would end just like every romance book and movie ever. We'll get together, and then we'll have a happily ever after. But, that's not life. That's a storybook fairy tale that you tell children. No, you cannot ask me out. You cannot take me to the dance. You cannot do any of that. Not until I can be like Makenna Leverage. Has thousands of friends on social media and thousands of guys all over me. I can't be Paige Newsworth the loser and get you." I say after he stopped hugging me.
He looks at me internally hurt. Like I just told him that he's not worth it. Like he's the one that needs to be perfect.
"Paige, you are perfect," He says as I shake my head.
"I've been used by guys before, they tell me that I'm perfect and that I deserve the world. But, in the end, they always end up leaving me or cheating on me because I'm not enough. You deserve better Jason." I say turning from him hurt as I walk out to the car-riders where my grandmother is waiting for me in her black van.
All this time I've wanted Jason to ask me out and tell me that he wanted to take me to the dance. But now that he does, I'm turning him down because I know that I'm not good enough.
I almost made it to my grandma's van when I hear quick feet coming towards me. I turn around and see Jason there.
"Paige, you're so adorable and cute. You made me chase you out here, you made me look like an idiot back there!" He says not even panting from the running. It must be nothing to the one-mile run he does every day. "You can't hate yourself or me!" He says as he grabs my arm and pulls me close to him.
"Also, I don't chase girls, girls chase me." He smirks as he lets me go.
"Jason... Fine. I'll be your girlfriend, and I won't be hard to take care of. You don't need to buy me gifts. Just being in your presence will be enough for me." I hug him as he hugs me back.
"Do you need a ride home?" I ask him as he shrugs.
"I can walk. I bet that I already missed my bus because I chased after you instead of letting you leave me like that." He replies rolling his eyes.
"Well, let me give you a ride home. You live fairly close to me." I say as he smiles and nods.
"Cool. That'd be nice." He takes my hand, and we walk to my grandma's van to get home.
