Cursed Mind

Chapter 6

*Alex POV*

After a symbol of a dove appeared above Phoenix's head, I yelped as I noticed her appearance. The Greek outfit she was dressed in was fit for royalty. Before I could really say anything, a group of kids who looked like fashion models came through and a boy grabbed Phoenix's wrist.

"She's one of us, so Nico you should have listened to me." The boy said, getting up into Nico's face before storming off with the other fashionistas and Phoenix.

I took a sigh and ran away from the crowd of people. I headed towards the lake and I sat down on the beach, hugging my knees. I watched the reflection of the silver moon upon the dark waters.

I sat like this for a bit, enjoying the silence before I heard footsteps approaching from behind. I quickly turned around to see the boy Phoenix had been with earlier, Cyprian.

"Are you alright?" He asked, sounding concerned. I nodded my head and he smiled.

"That's good. I came to get you. We have a bonfire to get to!" he exclaimed, and took off running. I followed Cyprian and pretty soon we ended up at a big bonfire that all the campers were at. Everyone sat on stands surrounding the fire under banners that had Greek god symbols. I saw Phoenix sitting under a banner that had a dove on it, the symbol of Aphrodite. I followed Cyprian over to where Chiron and Mr. D were.

"You can sit here with Chiron and Mr. D. I've got to go sit with my brothers and sisters." He said with a grin before giving me a quick hug and dashing off to where the banner of Nike's symbol hung. Chiron motioned for me to sit beside him and I did so as Mr.D stood up to address the campers.

"Hello to all of you little brats. I don't really want to be here but you already know that. Now the Activity director, Chiron, has some news to share. After that, we'll make s'mores." Mr. D said in a bored voice. He sat down and Chiron stood up, in his centaur form.

"Tomorrow we'll have a game of capture the flag. I believe that the captains are Athena for the red team and Poseidon for the blue team."

"What? Really? This is so not fair." Someone shouted, and I turned to see a lone boy sitting under the symbol of a trident, Poseidon. The boy had messy black hair and sea green eyes. He wore the camp shirt and some blue jeans.

"You might as well surrender now, Seaweed Brain. I'm going to crush you tomorrow." A girl sitting under the symbol of an owl, Athena's symbol, said. She stood up with her hands on her hips and smirked at him. She had blonde hair that sat in perfect curls around her face. She had a California tan and stormy, gray eyes that seemed to be calculating everything and sent a message that said 'don't mess with me!' She also wore the camp shirt with blue jean shorts. I looked at her eyes again. They looked like my own gray eyes. The boy rolled his eyes and stood up.

"In your dreams, wise girl. Watch your back, or you might get splashed." The boy smirked right back at her and mimicked her by putting his hands on his hips.

"Alright, settle down. Now it's time for s'mores." Chiron said, waving his hands through the air. S'mores seemed to capture everybody's attention. A wind nymph passed by and handed me crackers, marshmallows, and a chocolate bar. I found a stick on the ground and went to the big fire to roast my marshmallow. I stick my marshmallow straight into the fire and when I pull it out it looks like a flaming torch. I blow it out and smack it onto my crackers with the heresy chocolate. I take a bite and close my eyes with a soft smile. This was what I needed right now. I open my eyes to watch everyone else munch on their s'mores contently. I grin as I finish my s'more before turning to Chiron.

"What do I do now?" I asked him.

"Since we don't know your godly parent yet, you'll be staying in the Hermes cabin for now. I'll have Connor Stoll take you. He turned around, "Connor Stoll!"
