Chapter 9

*Phoenix POV*

I got up quickly and rushed to breakfast but only after I picked out the perfect outfit. Only because if the race I wanna win as well as so that I can have great style. I picked out black sports legging and a pink with white logo that said "Hey" on it. I ran out putting on my blue converse. I sat down and thought of the best breakfast ever. Eggs in a basket, basically bread with a hole in the center and a egg scrambled in the middle. Jasper sat down next to me and I looked up to see Alex passing by, I can't wait to beat her today.

"Eat or Annabeth won't let you participate" Jasper scolded me like a older brother would.

"Fine" I snapped and finished eating and went to get my armour.

I walked in and wandered around the enormous room, I picked up my bow and a couple handful of arrows, but also a small throwing knife. Annabeth was going over battle strategies. She was mumbling, and said something about not having someone to guard the flag. I smiled and said:

" Here why don't I do it I mean you need help don't you."

Annabeth considered and nodded. We walked towards the exit and I didn't listen while Annabeth explained the plan to everyone. All I felt was a tap on my shoulder I turned around to see Nico behind me.

"Be careful, I have to help Will so I can't protect you." He said, he was so overprotective.

"I will don't worry"

"Besides she has me," Austin started in smiling coming up behind me. "Told you you'd be my partner."

"Austin"

"Nico"

Nico walked off and I laughed that boy and his girly mood swings.

The battle started as the horn blew I went and climbed a tree and marked my post, Austin took shelter under some bushes and we hid. After about twenty minutes offering no one, Alex comes running towards the flag. I shot a couple arrows around her to wait for her to back off. When she didn't I yelled "Sorry, Alex, but I can't let you take that flag."I said with a smile.

"Who said anything about you letting me?" She asked.

I dropped my bow to the floor and picked my knife up and lunged at her. She dogged and she lunged at me, I blocked and tried to stab her. This happened over and over, frustrated I make a mistake and as I loosened my hand she stabs me. I fall back and above her head a glowing symbol of Owl and I grinned. But then as everyone just stared at her, I saw Connor Stoll sneak behind her and whisper in her ear. Then she grabbed the flag and sprinted off across the creek and back into the woods. I chased after her but I knew it was no use. She was as fast as a cheetah. I smiled again, she finally had a family. I looked towards the water and saw Luck and Evangeline. I didn't realize as I started to bleed I felt hands around my waist as I was currently on the ground from the wound. Austin said "hold on, I'm gonna take you down to the water okay."

I nodded as he pulled my to the bank of the river. He removed his hands and pulled a bandage out of his back pocket and lifted up my shirt. He wasn't gonna be creepy, all he did was wrap the band he around my waist so I could get up.

"Phe, what happened?!!" Luck yelled.

"Don't talk" he pointed at me, "She was in the middle of the camp game and Alex stabbed her."

"She didn't mean to," I interjected.

Austin looked at me like I was crazy and put a finger on my lips like I was a little kid and said:

"What did I tell you"

I smiled and he wrapped my hands around my waist again and said "Now me and you are gonna go to my cabin and fix up that hole of yours." He smiled and laughed.

"Phe when you come back just remind us to tell you about water nymphs." Luck shouted after us.

We got to the cabin and Nico ran over with Will and they both about started to yell at me, Austin put me down on a bed and i suddenly missed the way his hands felt around my waist. 'Wow thats not normal.' I started to think to myself. I had to take off my shirt and thankfully I had my sports bra so it covered that area, (you know) and Austin took the bandage off. He grabbed some oils and spread them all over the wound. I started to kick and yell so Nico had to hold me down, "That stings and what even is that" I yelled out of anger and pain. Austin looked at me and said "doctors note". I looked down and on it was scribbled the words 'stays at Apollo Cabin for the night because of wound".

"Same now we both have matching doctor notes." Nico yelled laughing.

Austin helped me up and said, "I'll have my sister go and get you some clothes but you are staying here tonight so, I'm gonna stay out here with you and you sleep here." He pointed to the open bed and ran off towards the inside of the cabin. I waited and started to sing and laughed and smiled as Austin came back in, we smiled at each other.He pulled my hair back and I smiled, Austin laughed and said, "You'll sit on the foot of your bed until you fall asleep so you can't run off." I laughed and lied down and his sister came in gave me a change of clothes. I got back up again, and went to change I came in and Nico and Will were kissing and then Nico blushed and looked at me I laughed. I layed down and will came over to me and said, "Now don't run away and break Austin's heart got it." I didn't know what he meant but I said "okay". Will and Nico left the room and I fell asleep to Austin playing the guitar and watching me making sure I couldn't run away.

I got up the next morning and snuck out to my own cabin. To find Jasper and Ceina yelling in the corner about what makeup they should wear. I walked past them and changed into regular clothes, I started to put my converse on again and Jasper said, "What about breakfast?" I responded with, "I'm finding Alex bye."

I walked into the mess hall and found Alex getting up from the Athena table, we both smiled and I looked at her. She came over " hang?" "Totally" we both having some weird one word understanding. We started to walk and she started to tell me about this guy that she liked. His name was Connor and she sounded unsure though, "What" I asked her. "Nothing" she said until I forced her to explain about her being scared to get close to someone and getting hurt again. I nodded in understanding.

"If you like him go after him," I told her plainly. "He sounds like he won't hurt you."

"Alright I will, you're right, but what about you. You're just gonna watch while one of your best friend has a guy, and you're not gonna?l" She said to me like it blew her mind. I laughed and shrugged we both kept talking and nagging each other about what happens when we both have a boy.

We both kept walking until we got to the river. Luck and evangeline were dancing on top of the river and laughing.

"It's Phe and Alex!!!" Luck yelled and swam over to us.

"So now after your famous battles you return to your two lonely friends. But only because of what explanation." Evangeline smirked, telling us off.

We walked over and sat down on the sand as the pink and orange sunset. Turned even dimmer as the sun made a lap around the world again. So we started to catch up on all the wonderful things that happened at camp. How I fought the Kampe and helped win, how Alex and I got our mother's name. Even the capture the flag game. I told my side of the story and Alex told hers. It got dark all of the sudden and Evangeline says she's gonna get a lantern. We all nod and she disappears into the water. when she returns she carries a pink lantern and it's covered in a green vine. When Luck turns the mob it lights up and produces a orange light that is east on the eyes.

"Now let me tell you the secret truth about Evangeline and I." Luck started. "Water Nymphs are protectors of rivers, streams, and wells, etc. Our cousins the sirens and other nymphs have turned to Luke's side before he died." Luck finished about five minutes ago but the part about Luke replayed in my mind. Who was Luke and why does everyone here not worry about these nymphs running around.
