in my eyes, I found it impossible as to why Hideyoshi was not surrounded by women. of course, he was mine now, but he was so sweet, so selfless it made me want to prove chivalry wasn't dead.

"Hideyoshi, you can get under the umbrella as well you know. you're going to get soaking wet."

"I can not! only the princess gets shelter from the rain and - hey!"I tried to pull his body under the umbrella by his jacket, but he pulled back. I looked up at him.

"just shut up and come over here, I'm cold." I grinned at him, the wind blew my hair a little and pushed us back before I felt an arm around my shoulders. I looked to my side and saw his dazzling smile, his eyes closing he smiled so hard at me. the smile slowly faded off his face, he seemed to be in thought before he said something,

"I wonder if I hadn't put my arm around your shoulder if you would've been blown away."

"I wonder if I hadn't talked to you that day if we'd even be here." he put his hand over his heart in mock hurt, and in the process choking me since his arm was still around my shoulder

"Hi...de, I can't breathe..."

"ah! I'm sorry (y/n)!" I laughed at his clumsiness, and it really made me think about the day I had met him.

•flashback•

"who is this 'friend' you want to show me again? and why do I have to double date with you?" Rize just shook off my question with a smile, pushing me along through the crowd of clear umbrellas and rain covered citizens of Tokyo. we were trying to get to a café apparently, to meet someone named Kaneki and his friend, who slipped my mind. almost like his name was hiding...

"oh! it was Hideyoshi wasn't it?" Rize nodded her head as she slowed down, the rain finally catching onto my clothes as the crowd split to avoid us, which meant we couldn't umbrella jump anymore.

"this is it! see? that's Kaneki, and the energetic one across from him is Hideyoshi!" I looked up, and I saw the boys she was talking about. the black haired one, shy in his look and timidity plaguing his every move. then I saw Hideyoshi, his bright orange-yellow hair, his smile that was just as bright, and the way he lit up across from his friend. but I had to play off my interest, as always.

"I can't believe you're dragging me here to double date, much less with our food. "

"what did I say about anything 'us' related?" Rize tutted at me, pulling her hair to lay over her shoulder as we walked in the door.

"not around our dates." she nodded her head, and then a bell rang as we were in the door. I assumed they both knew the basics about how we looked, so when I saw Kaneki turn around and his eyes widen and face flush, it didn't shock me. but Hideyoshi, he looked like he was looking at the sunset after being blind his whole life. that's what threw me off, but even so, I kept my stride up and stopped in front of his table.

"why don't we sit at another table? your friend looks a little starstruck right now." I pointed in Kaneki's direction with a joking smile, that quivered a little when I heard Hideyoshi's boisterous laughter.

"he's head over heels for the girl! I even told him to act cool..." he stood up, not seeming nervous in the slightest after the expression he gave me when I walked in. I went to pull my own chair out, but he beat me to it, adding an extra bow and a quirk of his eyebrow. I returned it with a smile, sitting down and waiting for him to do the same before he spoke.

"I'm Hideyoshi Nagachika, but everyone calls me Hide. Kaneki told me a lot about you two."

"oh really?"

"well, he told me there was a girl he really liked, and she had a very pretty and very smart friend named (y/n) and that you were coming. that's all I needed to know." I laughed, liking how easy this conversation was going. I could tell I was already planing to see him again.

"you came here only knowing I was pretty and smart?"

"I came here knowing I would enjoy being around whoever you were, and I was right." I sat back in my chair, my hand clenched around the skirt of my dress. Hideyoshi...forget seeing him again, I wanted to see him as much as I could, and I think he knew when a grin grew on his face.

"hey, can I have your number? I have a feeling this isn't the last time I'll see you."

"just like you had a feeling you'd enjoy whoever I was?" he nodded his head furiously and I laughed a little as I called the waitress over that had been eyeing Kaneki the whole time. she nodded her head when I asked for a pen, pulling the one out of her pocket so I can write on the napkin on the table. I handed it to Hideyoshi before standing up, almost turning around before I realized he hadn't gotten up.

"are you going to stare or are you going to walk me out?" I saw Rize shake her head a little at my blunt speaking, but a chair loudly scraped across the floor and there was a hand taking mine before I could say something.

"of course. only the best for a princess." he dragged me towards the door, my face heating up as Rize and Kaneki laughed to themselves at us. or maybe it was the hand holding mine that made not only my face warm, but my whole body.

•end flashback•

"I'm going to let you run into the pole." I grabbed his waist and got as close to him as I could so I wouldn't hit the pole.

"hey, welcome back to Tokyo. here we have an amazing, extremely handsome boyfriend. the city is amazing too." I rolled my eyes and laughed at Hide, bringing my hand up and making it seem like I was looking for something.

"the city is amazing as far as I can see, but all I see is a dorky, extremely annoying boyfriend." Hide feigned being hurt, holding his hand to his chest once again, but this time he knew he was choking me.

"well, if I'm so dorky then tell me why you always dance around when you think I'm not looking." he smiled down at me, twisting and turning until I final pulled his arm from around my neck.

"fine...I'm the dorky one, but you love me for it."

"I do! and I will scream it as loud as I need to. all of Tokyo will know!" I flicked his nose, tucking myself under his arm again as we pushed past people in the rain.

"okay Romeo. let's go eat already." kissing the back of his hand, I smiled at Hide as he began pulling me faster through the crowd, covering me with the umbrella while he got wet.

"of course! if the princess says she wants to eat, then she eats like a king!" I shook my head, letting him drag me as practically ran through the streets of Tokyo. it was funny, even on such a rainy day, he was still shining as right as the sun.

"they won't let you in if you're soaked." I pulled him back under the umbrella, not surprised that he was still just as warm even while wet. that's what the sun does.
