sing for me
❦❦❦❦❦❦
so i changed my mind on the last one shot and decided to make a completely separate one for my favorite nen user instead of making a part two, whoops :P

word count: 1053

things to know:
• ooc Hisoka because this gets very introspective. like late night "what is the point of my life" introspective
•you're a specialist, and your nen allows you to see thoughts and memories in pictures. touching the person makes it a lot easier
•I used the comic that the tokyo ghoul creator made for Hisoka, so go read it for some of this to make sense
•unedited of course

•third person•

when Hisoka committed to something—a task, a feeling—he didn't back down. he gave his everything, whether that meant all the murderous intent he could muster or every ounce of willingness to fulfill whatever Hisoka was committed to. however, no one was really prepared for Hisoka to commit to a person, ever. Gon, for once, was at a loss for words, and Killua thought the world may have been ending. of course, that's wasn't the case. Hisoka was just a man that was very committed to a certain person.

a certain woman, and that woman was none other than (y/n) (l/n).

Hisoka kept her to himself, or at least never brought her around people that knew him, and people that knew him never came around when he was with her. why should he let them? neither of them were out to prove anything, and Hisoka's nature made him possessive. he wanted every inch of (y/n) to be his, no sharing, no eyes wandering where they shouldn't, and he wouldn't have to hurt anyone. but, because no one had seen (y/n), they assumed she must've been pretty amazing, or someone even worse than Hisoka for him to keep her around.

although, the woman herself thought she was pretty average. (y/n) was just a woman who took Hisoka's commitment to her in stride.

that being said, Hisoka usually only did things for himself, being the selfish and self-indulgent man he was, but when it came to (y/n), he'd drop everything to do what she asked. and she knew it. so when (y/n) asked him to sing for her, she was surprised he didn't.

"wouldn't you rather have my lips do something else~" (y/n) rolled her eyes, nudging away his advancing hand with her foot. from where her head laid on the arm of the couch, Hisoka looked as smug as ever, but he avoided looking at her. there was not a day that went by that he wasn't checking her out, and for him to avoid her direction, to not persist in his advances like he normally did, clearly singing was a touchy subject for him.

but, (y/n) hadn't been dating this man for months by not pushing his boundaries, even if it was just a little. if she had to give herself credit, nen abilities aside, that was what made her so amazing.

"Hisoka, you said no more secrets." the eyebrow that was raised in his direction almost made him want to pull away from her, to hide behind a smug smirk and every threatening glare he could muster. but he couldn't, not with her, under the gentle pressure of her (e/c) eyes or the soft, probing touch of her fingers that cradled his cheek and made Hisoka face her. he sighed, and let himself lean into (y/n)'s touch as he nodded his head for her to use her nen.

Hisoka imagined the pictures of his past playing out in front of (y/n)'s eyes, imagined her walking through his thoughts like a trail in a dark forest. he watched as her (e/c) glassed over with tears before they focused on Hisoka again.

"you...used to sing in the circus, but it's not a happy memory." (y/n)'s eyes were a force to be reckoned with as Hisoka avoided them. he wouldn't admit it, but her nen practically stripped him of his selfish, self-indulgent, sadistic walls and left the defenseless, vulnerable Hisoka. (y/n)'s nen, her eyes, left a regular, very committed man and although it made him feel threatened, Hisoka knew he could never hate her for it. he knew he couldn't resent her, or kill her like he did so many others because after so many months he couldn't live without (y/n). Hisoka couldn't be his selfish, self-indulgent and sadistic self on an everyday basis without knowing he had an escape, someone to come back to that he didn't want to cultivate for his own selfish needs.

if Hisoka gave her credit, nen abilities aside, that was what made (y/n) so amazing and, in a way, worse than himself as he let (y/n) influence him.

"but we can definitely change that. if you sing for me, we can make that a happy thing for you, right? and then when you feel the need to kill someone you won't have to call me, right?" Hisoka felt the need to squint under the brightness of (y/n)'s smile, but then he decided he had enough of his vulnerability in that moment. he felt a smirk pull at his lips at (y/n)'s expectant eyes, and Hisoka grabbed the hand on his cheek and kissed the palm of her hand before he conceded.

"you're very manipulative, (y/n)."

"mhm, but that's why you love me, right?" Hisoka rolled his eyes, and (y/n) knew that was as close to a yes she was going to get as he pulled her hand away from his lips. he played with her fingers, his huge hand lacing with his hers as Hisoka finally sang for her. (y/n) couldn't help but stare, and Hisoka confronted the stare, the (e/c) eyes that left a regular, very committed man that did, in fact, love (y/n).
