Mommy

She'll say, "Sweetheart, you're all grown up!"
I'll reply, "Yes, mom! I'm a big girl now!"
She'll smile, tuck my hair behind my ears
With her magical hands, she'll cast away my fears

Then she'll say, "Tell me everything!'
I'll reply, "Mom, a girl's gotta have her secrets!" With a wink
"Tell me his name! Pretty please–please–please!"
"Mom" I'll smile. "I just got here. Lemme at least breathe"

From there... crazy shopping
I'll teach her latest styles of dancing
We'll watch love movies, go swimming
On the roof, during full moons —  sleeping and dreaming

We might have a have fight
I could be right but I'll say that I'm not
Cause I wouldn't want to hurt you
I'll say, "Mommy, I'm sorry. I love you"

At least that's how it should go
Even if I wouldn't know
What it feels like
To have a mother, an irreplaceable right

Someone in your sisterhood
Teaching you what's bad and good
Giving you an unconditional love
Making scarifies no one else could do

The good ones, so beautiful
The bad ones, somewhat pitiful
Whatever, I just want one
Better to have a mother than none

That'll say, "Sweetheart, you're all grown up!"
Then I'll reply, "Yes, mom!
